Celebrating a Well-Earned Achievement 🎉🏁🍔

A huge congratulations to Paul, who has been working incredibly hard towards obtaining his General Officials Licence with Motorsport Australia.

Over the past few months, Paul and his support worker, Renee, have spent plenty of time at the local library studying, learning and preparing for the assessment. All that dedication paid off, with Paul officially passing his licence requirements!

This achievement will allow Paul to volunteer at motorsport events at Willowbank and is another exciting step towards his upcoming trip to Perth to enjoy the sport he is so passionate about.

To celebrate all of his hard work and success, Paul and Renee headed to Hello Harry for a well-deserved burger lunch while supporting a fantastic local Ipswich business.

At The iCare Group Australia, we love seeing participants work towards goals that are meaningful to them. Whether it's gaining new skills, pursuing personal interests, building confidence, or creating pathways to community involvement, every milestone is worth celebrating.

Due to the chilly Melbourne weather, we swapped our monthly BBQ for coffee and morning tea indoors at Little Wolf cafe. 🍰☕️

Staff and participants enjoyed a wonderful morning filled with great conversations, plenty of laughs, and the opportunity to connect in a warm and welcoming environment.

What a way to start the season!

Congratulations to the Jets Netball Club Sapphires on their fantastic first game of the season, securing a 59–52 win over the Carina Leagues Club Tigers at Nissan ArenaNissan last night.

The iCare Group Australia is incredibly proud to support and sponsor women’s sport, helping create opportunities for talented athletes to shine both on and off the court. The passion, determination and teamwork displayed by the Sapphires was inspiring to watch, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings.

A huge congratulations to the players, coaching staff and everyone involved in making the season opener such a success. Here’s to many more exciting moments ahead!

Today was another fantastic Community BBQ filled with great food, great company, plenty of laughs, and lots of smiling faces.

These events are about so much more than a BBQ. They create opportunities for people to connect, build friendships, increase social participation, and enjoy being part of a welcoming and inclusive community.

It was wonderful to see participants, support workers, families, and community members coming together, sharing stories, making connections, and simply enjoying the morning.

Exploring Brisbane, Building Confidence

At The iCare Group Australia, some of the most meaningful moments happen when people are supported to pursue the things they genuinely enjoy.

Recently, Ken and his support worker, Jacqueline, spent the day exploring Brisbane together, turning an ordinary day into an adventure filled with new experiences, laughter and connection.

The pair travelled into the city before hopping aboard the CityCat and making their way to South Bank. Along the journey, Ken enjoyed taking in the sights of Brisbane from the water, experiencing the atmosphere of the city and embracing the opportunity to get out and about in the community.

The day continued with a well-earned lunch, where Ken enjoyed pizza and good company while reflecting on everything he had seen and experienced throughout the day.

While the outing may seem simple, it directly supported one of Ken’s personal goals: to be appropriately supported so he can engage in activities and events that are of interest to him.

With the right support alongside him, Ken was able to confidently access public transport, explore different environments, make choices about his day and enjoy experiences that were meaningful to him.

These moments are about more than just getting from one place to another. They help build confidence, encourage independence, strengthen community participation and create lasting memories.

For Jacqueline, the highlight was seeing Ken’s smile throughout the day and watching him enjoy every part of the experience.

Support work isn’t always about the big outings people see on social media… sometimes it’s the quiet moments, hidden talents, and meaningful connections that make the biggest impact.

At The iCare Group Australia, we believe every participant has something special to offer and this week, Caroline reminded us of exactly that.

Caroline, who is both deaf and blind, has been busy creating these beautiful handmade scarves for our team for winter

Every scarf was made with care, patience, creativity, and so much love behind it. And honestly? We are all completely obsessed with them.

To make the visit even sweeter, Caroline and her amazing support worker Sharyn surprised the team by bringing in a box of donuts too

Moments like this are such an important reminder that capacity building looks different for everyone.

It’s about:
✨ Building confidence.
✨ Encouraging creativity.
✨ Supporting independence.
✨ Creating meaningful purpose.
✨ Celebrating individual strengths and achievements.

These are the moments that truly matter.

“Why don’t support workers do more exciting things with participants?” 👀

We hear this all the time, especially on social media.

“Why are participants always at parks or shopping centres instead of concerts, events and fun activities?”

The truth is many people don’t realise that unless a participant has a Companion Card, attending events often means paying for TWO tickets if support is required.

That can make big outings financially difficult, especially with the rising cost of living.

At The iCARE Group Australia, we absolutely believe in fun, creativity, community access, and meaningful capacity building activities. We also believe in thinking outside the box and looking at the bigger picture to assist participants with their goals and improve their overall quality of life. 💙

This week our amazing VIC support workers, Jess and Mel, did exactly that.

They connected one of our SIL participants with support from Hastings Community Support Centre and Mornington Community Support Centre, then spent time meal prepping nutritious homemade meals for the week ahead 🍝🥗

And get this…

The participant only spent $35 on groceries for ALL of these meals 🤯

This is the kind of support people don’t always see behind the scenes:
✨ Helping participants stretch their money further.
✨ Reducing financial stress.
✨ Creating independence.
✨ Building community connections.
✨ Supporting participants to work towards their goals.
✨ Making sure participants still have money left for the things they enjoy.

Because support work is not just about “filling time.”
It’s about creating real outcomes and meaningful support.
