πŸ’ͺ DAY 4 – HALF WAY THERE! πŸ’ͺ

Today marks the halfway point of our 7-Day Movement Challenge!

We know that creating new habits isn't always easy, but our participants are showing determination, resilience and commitment.

Whether it's a morning walk, dancing in the lounge room, bowling with friends or getting out into the community, every minute of movement is an achievement worth celebrating.

Let's hear it for everyone taking part! πŸ‘

Neuroaffirming Isn't Just A Buzzword

It's how we show up.

It's understanding that people don't need fixing.

It's listening before talking.

It's working with strengths.

It's creating support that fits the person rather than forcing the person to fit the support.

Come and chat with us about what neuroaffirming support really looks like.

🏑 Finding The Right Home Isn't About Filling A Vacancy... It's About Finding Your People. 🏑

Can we be honest for a moment?

Moving out of home is a huge deal.

Whether it's your son, daughter, brother, sister, loved one... or yourself.

It's exciting.

It's terrifying.

And sometimes it's wrapped up in a whole lot of guilt, worry, fear, and "what ifs."

Because let's face it...

Nobody lies awake at 2am worrying about whether there's a room available.

They worry about whether their loved one will be happy.

Whether they'll belong.

Whether the staff will truly understand them.

Whether they'll be supported, respected, and cared for.

And if you've already tried housing before and it didn't work out?

Ooft. That can knock your confidence completely.

Maybe the housemates weren't the right fit.

Maybe the environment wasn't right.

Maybe the support team looked great on paper but wasn't what the person actually needed.

The truth is...

A house is just a building.

A home is something completely different. πŸ’œ

At My Choice Disability Support, we don't just look at vacancies.

We look at the whole person.

✨ Their personality.
✨ Their interests.
✨ Their routines.
✨ Their communication style.
✨ Their goals.
✨ The people they'll be living with.
✨ The support team around them.

Because not everyone wants a loud social household.

Not everyone wants quiet either.

Not everyone wants to spend every day out and about.

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to housing.

And honestly? We wouldn't want it any other way.

We currently have housing opportunities available in:

🏑 Albany Creek
🏑 Forest Lake
🏑 Eagleby

But if these areas aren't right for you, don't scroll past.

Reach out anyway.

Because sometimes the best outcomes happen when we stop asking, "What vacancies do you have?" and start asking, "What would your ideal home look like?"

Then we work backwards from there.

A little bit of creativity.

A whole lot of connection.

And a team that genuinely cares.

If you're thinking about housing now, six months from now, or even "one day," let's start the conversation.

Because everyone deserves more than just a roof over their head.

They deserve a place where they can feel safe, comfortable, supported, and completely themselves.

πŸ’œ And that's worth taking the time to get right.

πŸ’œ Sometimes We Meet People Who Are Simply Running on Empty πŸ’œ

The parent who has spent years holding everything together.

The one attending school meetings, managing appointments, advocating, researching, supporting meltdowns, carrying the mental load, and somehow still trying to show up every day.

The parent who finally gets their teenager through high school...

Only to find them sitting at home afterwards, isolated, lacking motivation, struggling to find their next step, and not eligible for the support they desperately need.

We meet autistic parents raising autistic children.

Both trying their best.

Both overwhelmed.

Both feeding off each other's stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and emotions because neither has the right support around them.

We meet participants who have NDIS funding but don't understand how the system works.

They have a plan, but no roadmap.

A budget, but no direction.

Supports available, but no idea where to start.

And then there are the people who have been let down so many times they've almost stopped asking for help altogether.

People who have told their story over and over.

People who feel lost, forgotten, exhausted, and disconnected from a system that was meant to support them.

The sad part?

These aren't rare stories.

We hear them every single day.

Sometimes people don't need another service.

They don't need another brochure.

They don't need another person telling them what they should do.

Sometimes they simply need someone to sit down with them, listen, understand their situation, and help them work out what comes next.

If any of this sounds familiar, please know you're not alone.

We'd love to offer a coffee, a conversation, and a chance to explore whether there might be a way forward together.

No pressure.

Just humans helping humans, Australia wide. πŸ’œ

🌳 DAY 3 – GETTING OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY 🌳

One of the best things about movement is that it often leads to connection.

Today, our participants are getting out and about, exploring their communities, catching up with friends, visiting local parks, bowling alleys, shopping centres and more.

Movement doesn't have to look the same for everyone. What matters is finding something you enjoy and giving it a go.

We're loving seeing our participants challenge themselves and try something different this week.

Parents... We See You πŸ’œ

The appointment scheduler.

The therapist organiser.

The school email responder.

The snack maker.

The advocate.

The researcher.

The exhausted human holding everything together.

If that's you, come and have a chat with us at the Expo.

Sometimes it's nice talking to people who genuinely get it.

πŸ’œ DAY 2 – BUILDING MOMENTUM πŸ’œ

Our participants are officially underway with the MCDS 7-Day Movement Challenge!

Today is all about building momentum and showing up for yourself. Sometimes the hardest part is simply getting started, and we're so proud of everyone who has already taken that first step.

From walks and bowling to shopping trips and community outings, our participants are finding their own ways to get moving.

Remember, every participant who successfully completes the challenge will have $100 donated to Camp Quality on their behalf by My Choice Disability Support.

Keep going everyone – you've got this! πŸ’œ

🏑✨ Looking for a Short Term Accommodation (STA) option that offers more than just a place to stay?

We've been chatting with participants, families and Support Coordinators from regional areas, and one thing keeps coming up:

πŸ’œ "I'd love to visit the Gold Coast."
πŸ’œ "I'd love to experience the theme parks."
πŸ’œ "I'd love to spend time exploring Brisbane."
πŸ’œ "I'd like a short stay away from home while building my independence."

That's exactly why we created our Short Term Accommodation (STA) opportunities in Eagleby.

Perfectly positioned between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, our welcoming home provides participants with the chance to experience new environments, develop independence, build confidence and enjoy meaningful community participation.

Whether it's exploring local markets, visiting the theme parks, enjoying a day on the Gold Coast, trying new activities, or simply experiencing a change of scenery, we work with participants to create a stay that aligns with their goals and interests.

Our STA supports can help participants:

βœ… Build independence and confidence
βœ… Develop daily living skills
βœ… Increase community participation
βœ… Experience new environments
βœ… Build social connections
βœ… Work towards individual NDIS goals

If you're a participant, family member or Support Coordinator looking for Short Term Accommodation options in South East Queensland, we'd love to have a conversation.

πŸ“§ Contact us at [email protected] to learn more about our Eagleby STA opportunities.

Because sometimes the best growth happens when we step outside our usual routine and try something new. πŸ’œπŸŒˆ
