Counselling is not what most people think it is. What it actually does for people tends to surprise them.

Most people assume counselling is only for when things have completely broken down, but that is one of the biggest misconceptions around. Counselling is a proactive tool that helps you understand your patterns, build coping strategies, and process experiences before they become a crisis.
At My Advanced Allied Health Services, our counsellor Leanne brings over 20 years of lived experience in disability and mental health, specialising in trauma, disability, family, and couples counselling. Sessions are available in-clinic in Jimboomba or via telehealth across Logan and the Gold Coast. Reach out today to book a session or book online at www.myadvanced.com.au

Strong foundations start with movement. Gross motor development builds confidence and independence.

Meet Oliver. Oliver was slower to reach his gross motor milestones – rolling, sitting, crawling. His parents noticed he wasn't developing at the same pace as other babies his age. They were concerned about his strength and coordination and wanted to support his development, but they weren't sure what to do or if there was cause for concern.

Through play-based therapy at My Advanced Allied Health, Oliver worked with our play therapist on activities designed to build strength, coordination, and confidence in movement. Our play therapist used colourful play mats, engaging activities, and playful encouragement to help Oliver develop his gross motor skills. Oliver's parents learned how to support his development at home through everyday movement play. Today, Oliver is stronger, more confident, and reaching his milestones – all through joyful, play-based movement.

"Our play therapist gave us the confidence that Oliver was developing beautifully at his own pace. The activities were so much fun, and we could see him getting stronger every week." – Oliver's parents

Gross motor development is crucial for babies and toddlers. Building strength, coordination, and confidence in movement creates the foundation for independence, play, and lifelong physical wellbeing.

Our play therapists specialise in gross motor development for infants and toddlers. We use play-based activities, movement exploration, and supportive guidance to help children build strength, coordination, and confidence in their own unique timeline.

If your baby or toddler is developing at their own pace and you want to support their gross motor development through play, we're here to help.

Early play experiences shape development. Sensory play builds the foundation for learning and growth.

Meet Noah. Noah's parents wanted to support his early development and create enriching play experiences at home. They knew that play was important, but they weren't sure which activities would best support his sensory development, motor skills, and curiosity. They wanted guidance on how to create a play environment that would help him thrive.

Through play-based therapy at My Advanced Allied Health, Noah worked with our play therapist to explore sensory activities, textures, and age-appropriate toys. Our play therapist helped Noah's parents understand how different sensory experiences support his development – from exploring textures to grasping and manipulating toys. Noah's parents learned how to create a rich play environment at home that encourages exploration, curiosity, and skill development. Today, Noah is engaged, curious, and developing beautifully through play.

"Our play therapist showed us how to turn everyday play into learning opportunities. Noah is so engaged and happy, and we feel confident supporting his development at home." – Noah's parents

Early sensory play is crucial for infant and toddler development. Through exploration, textures, and age-appropriate activities, children build motor skills, sensory awareness, and the foundation for learning and growth.

Our play therapists specialise in early childhood development. We support parents in creating rich play environments and guide them on sensory activities, toy selection, and play strategies that support their child's development from birth onwards.

If you want to support your baby or toddler's development through enriching play experiences, we're here to help.

Every child deserves to play, explore, and thrive. Play therapy supports development at every stage.

Meet Lily. Lily was born with Down syndrome and was developing at her own pace. Her parents wanted to support her development and help her reach her milestones, but they weren't sure how to engage her in ways that felt natural and joyful. They knew she needed support, but they also wanted her to simply be a kid – playing, exploring, and having fun.

Through play-based therapy at My Advanced Allied Health, Lily worked with our play therapist using sensory activities, movement play, and exploration tailored to her developmental stage. Our play therapist created opportunities for Lily to engage with toys, experience different textures and movements, and build gross and fine motor skills through play. Lily's parents learned how to support her development at home through everyday play. Today, Lily is reaching her milestones, developing confidence, and most importantly, she's having fun exploring her world.

"Our play therapist helped us see that therapy doesn't have to look clinical – it can be joyful and natural. Lily is thriving, and we're enjoying watching her grow and play." – Lily's parents

Children with developmental differences deserve support that celebrates their unique pace and abilities. Play-based therapy creates space for children to develop, learn, and simply be kids – exploring, playing, and building confidence at their own pace.

Our play therapists specialise in supporting children with developmental differences. We use play, sensory activities, and movement to help children develop skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of exploration and play.

If your child has developmental differences and you want to support their growth through play, we're here to help.

Hands matter. Strength and dexterity keep you independent.

Meet Peter. After a incident resulting in a severe hand injury, Peter lost grip strength and fine motor control. Simple tasks became frustrating – opening jars, fastening buttons, working with tools in his shed. He felt his independence slipping away and worried he'd never regain the use of his hands.

Through occupational therapy at My Advanced Allied Health, Peter worked with our OT on hand rehabilitation and fine motor strengthening. Our therapist used targeted activities, therapeutic exercises, and practical strategies tailored to Peter's goals and interests. We helped him rebuild strength, improve coordination, and rediscover confidence in his hands. Today, Peter's grip is stronger, he's managing more tasks independently, and he's back doing the things that matter to him – even if differently than before.

"Recovery isn't about going back to exactly how things were. It's about finding new ways forward. My OT helped me see what I can do now, and that's made all the difference." – Peter

Hand injuries and weakness can significantly impact independence and quality of life. But occupational therapy offers evidence-based rehabilitation to restore strength, dexterity, and function.

Our occupational therapists specialise in hand rehabilitation and fine motor recovery. We use therapeutic activities, targeted exercises, and adaptive strategies to help adults rebuild hand strength, coordination, and independence.

If you're recovering from hand injury or experiencing hand weakness and want to regain independence, we're here to help.

Parenting together is a journey. We're here to support the whole family.

Meet Grace and Tom. Grace and Tom loved each other, but parenting their toddler had become a source of tension. They disagreed on discipline, felt disconnected from each other, and were both exhausted. They worried their stress was affecting their son, and they didn't know how to find their way back to being a team.

Through family counselling at My Advanced Allied Health, Grace and Tom learned to parent together with shared values and communication. Our counsellor helped them understand each other's parenting styles, develop consistent approaches, and reconnect as partners whilst supporting their son's wellbeing. Today, they're thriving as a family. They work together, their son feels secure, and they've rediscovered the joy in their relationship and their family life.

"We thought we were failing our son. Our counsellor helped us see that asking for help was actually the best thing we could do for him. Now we're united, and our whole family feels calmer." – Grace and Tom

Parenting challenges are real. Disagreements about discipline, different parenting philosophies, exhaustion, and feeling disconnected can strain even strong relationships. But these challenges don't have to pull your family apart.

Our family counsellors specialise in helping parents work together, communicate effectively, and create a secure, supportive environment for their children. We provide practical strategies and emotional support for the whole family.

If your family needs support, we're here to help you build stronger connections and a more harmonious home.

Play is therapy. Learning happens naturally when children are having fun.

Meet Ethan. Ethan was struggling with fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration. He found structured activities frustrating and avoided challenges. His parents wanted to help him develop these skills, but traditional approaches weren't working. They knew he learned best through play.

Through play-based therapy at My Advanced Allied Health, Ethan worked with our play therapist using games, toys, and activities he loved. Our play therapist embedded learning into play – stacking rings to build coordination, shape-sorting to develop problem-solving, and engaging activities that kept him motivated and happy. Ethan didn't even realise he was working on skills; he was just having fun. Today, Ethan's fine motor skills have improved significantly. He's more confident, more focused, and he actually asks to do therapy activities because they're so much fun.

"Ethan's transformation has been amazing. Our play therapist made therapy feel like play, not work. He's developed so many skills, but more importantly, he's confident and engaged." – Ethan's parents

Play-based therapy is one of the most powerful tools for supporting children's development. Through play, children develop motor skills, cognitive abilities, problem-solving, and confidence – all whilst having fun and staying engaged.

Our play therapists specialise in play-based therapy for children. We use games, toys, and meaningful activities to help children develop fine and gross motor skills, coordination, cognitive abilities, and confidence in ways that feel natural and joyful.

If your child is struggling with motor skills or development and you want them to learn through play, we're here to help.
