A little left field today, but I went down a rabbit hole and discovered that food and clean drinking water are recognised internationally as human rights, yet neither is guaranteed by the Australian Constitution.

International agreements do not override Australian law unless Parliament puts them into legislation.

Standing here looking at the calendula we grow for Alpine Apothecary, it feels incredibly relevant. Clean water, healthy soil and the ability to grow food and plants are the foundations of life.

These are so difficult to make, and there’s a lot involved that people don’t see.
I have to pour exactly the right amount of wax into the bowl, then pour the snowflake separately into its own mould. Once it’s set, the snowflake has to be carefully unmoulded without breaking those delicate edges.
Then I remelt the top layer of the candle, carefully thread the wicks through the snowflake, gently melt the surface without damaging it, and add another layer to secure the snowflake to the base.
It’s a 2–3 day process when everything goes right, with plenty of opportunities for something to go wrong along the way.
But when it all comes together perfectly... oh, it’s satisfying.

Facebook is coming down hard on non to*ic, natural and holistic spaces.

I’ve now seen another SIX groups last night in this space taken down, and it honestly feels like a bit of a witch hunt at this point.

So from here on, I’m going to be much more careful with the language I use around herbs, ingredients, traditional uses, wellness and natural living.

If you notice me changing words, spelling things differently or being more careful with how I phrase things, that’s why.

The conversation hasn’t changed.

I’m just not risking losing this page or our community because of wording Facebook decides it doesn’t like.
