Are you waking up multiple times a night to use the bathroom?

Many women assume it's just part of getting older, but changes in bladder and bowel function are incredibly common during perimenopause and menopause.

As hormone levels change, women may notice:
• Increased urgency and frequency
• More nighttime trips to the bathroom
• Bladder leaks when coughing, laughing or exercising
• Recurrent urinary tract infections
• Bloating and digestive discomfort
• Constipation, diarrhoea, or changes in bowel habits

What many women don't realise is that hormones play an important role in supporting the bladder, bowel, microbiome, and inflammatory responses throughout the body.

If these symptoms are affecting your sleep, confidence, comfort, or quality of life, it's worth having a conversation with a healthcare professional.

Common does not mean normal.
And it certainly doesn't mean you need to put up with it.

At Pranavi Women's Health, we're passionate about helping women understand what's happening in their bodies and exploring evidence-based treatment options that can help.

Sunday Morning Reset 🌿

"There’s something powerful about slowing down on a Sunday morning."

"Stepping outside, feeling the sunshine on your skin, moving your body, and spending time in nature isn't just relaxing — it's medicine for the mind and body."

"Sunlight helps regulate our circadian rhythm, movement boosts mood and energy, and the calm of nature helps lower stress and quiet a busy mind."

"So before the week begins, take a moment to reset. Walk, breathe, stretch, sip your coffee outside, and let nature do what it does best."

Tell me what you have done this sunday morning to reset, to move or to simply be !

Have a great Sunday!

You Can Have Regular Periods and Still Be in Perimenopause
"One of the biggest myths I hear?

'My periods are regular, so I can't be in perimenopause.'

Wrong.

You can have regular periods, irregular periods, heavy periods, light periods—or any combination of these—and still be in perimenopause.

Perimenopause is about hormonal fluctuations, not whether your periods have stopped.

If you're experiencing symptoms, don't dismiss them just because you're still cycling.

Hormone Replacement Therapy explained

What is Hormone replacement therapy?
Hormone replacement therapy refers to medication containing estrogen and progesterone, and some women also testosterone.

We now have body identical estrogen and progesterone for hormone replacement therapy.

Why do I need estrogen?
Estrogen is needed to stabilise the estrogen fluctuations during perimenopause and thereby reducing troublesome symptoms like hot flushes, sleep disturbances, tiredness and mood changes. It has other benefits too such as improving cardiovascular health, metabolic, muscle and bone health and cognitive function.

Why do I need both estrogen and progesterone ?
While we need estrogen to stabilise our perimenopause symptoms and benefit bone/cardiovascular/metabolic/muscle/cognitive health - estrogen alone when given to women with uterus can make the lining within the uterus thicken - this may lead to hyperplasia or other even uterine cancers. To counteract these unwanted estrogen effects, progesterone is added to protect the uterine lining.

Do I need progesterone for any other reason?
Yes, progesterone in your HRT converts to allopregnalone in the brain and causes a calming effect on the brain, helps to reduce anxiety and assists in sleep .

When do we need testosterone?
Testosterone is currently approved for use in post menopausal women with reduced sexual desire , called hypoactive sexual desire disorder. Testosterone also helps with maintaining muscle mass, improving cognitive function , cardiovascular health and energy. More research is needed for testosterone use in women for these Indications alone, a space to watch.

Discuss Your individual circumstances with your hormone informed doctors, your history/symptoms should be assessed to receive appropriate and individualised hormonal advise.

Vulval, Vaginal, Sexual, Bladder and Pelvic Health symptoms in Peri/Menopause.

Many women quietly put up with changes that can have a significant impact on their confidence, relationships, sleep, comfort, and quality of life.

Often, they feel embarrassed, unsure whether what they're experiencing is "normal," or hesitant to bring it up with their doctor.

The truth is, these symptoms are incredibly common during midlife and beyond, but common does not mean you simply have to live with them.

If you're noticing changes that are affecting your daily life, wellbeing, or confidence, know that support is available and effective treatment options exist.

You don't need to suffer in silence, and you don't need to accept these changes as "just part of getting older."

If this resonates with you, it may be time to start the conversation.
