🔥💨 SMOKE ALERT – KATHERINE 💨🔥

There’s a lot of bushfire smoke hanging around Katherine at the moment — and smoke can affect your health, particularly your lungs.

🫁 PLEASE TAKE EXTRA CARE if you have asthma, COPD or another lung condition, heart disease, are pregnant, elderly, or caring for young children.

While it’s smokey:

🏠 Stay indoors where possible and close doors and windows.

🏃 Avoid strenuous outdoor activity.

❄️ Use air-conditioning on recirculate if possible.

💊 Keep taking your usual medications and keep your puffer/reliever close by.

😷 If you need to be outside, a well-fitted P2 or N95 mask can help reduce exposure to smoke particles.

💧 Keep hydrated.

❤️ Please check on family, friends and neighbours who are elderly, live alone or have breathing problems.

🚨 If you are struggling to breathe, have severe wheezing or chest pain/tightness, seek urgent medical help. For severe breathing difficulty, call 000.
