A heartfelt thank you to Wendy for her incredibly generous donation of $102 to our WIRES fundraiser.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps WIRES continue their vital work rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife. It's wonderful to know that our community cares so deeply about protecting the animals that share this beautiful place we call home.

Our fundraising is still ongoing, and if you've been thinking about donating, we'd be so grateful for your support. Every little bit truly does count and together, those small acts of kindness can make a real difference.

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month — a timely reminder to pay attention to our digestive and bowel health.

One simple thing that can make a surprisingly big difference to bowel function is posture.

Modern toilets place the body in a position that can make bowel motions more difficult. Raising the feet on a stool helps mimic a more natural squatting position, which may support easier and more complete elimination.

At the clinic we use a PROPPR stool, and after seeing the difference it can make, Tania now has one at home as well.

As an acupuncturist, she support many people with digestive health issues in clinic, but what we do between treatments matters too. Simple daily habits — including hydration, movement, stress management, nourishing food, and healthy bowel function — can all play an important role in supporting long-term wellbeing.
Sometimes small changes really do make a big difference.

When was the last time you spent an entire day looking after yourself?

Not catching up on jobs.
Not caring for everyone else.
Not ticking things off your to-do list.

A day dedicated to restoring your energy, calming your nervous system, learning practical skills for your wellbeing, and reconnecting with yourself.

If you're drawing a blank, you're not alone.

So many people are exhausted, overwhelmed, and running on empty — yet continue to put themselves last.

Tania's Winter Seasonal Self-Care Workshop on June 28 is designed to change that.

Through Chinese medicine wisdom, Qigong, food as medicine, and practical self-care strategies, you'll learn how to support your energy, resilience, sleep, stress levels, and wellbeing throughout winter and beyond.

If you've been thinking, "That sounds lovely, but I'm too busy"... this workshop might be exactly what you need.

If you've been waiting for a sign to put yourself on the list for once, this might be it.

Reserve your place before early bird pricing ends this Friday.

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month — an important reminder that bowel health matters far more than many people realise.

In Chinese medicine, digestion is seen as the foundation of health. When the digestive system is functioning well, we’re better able to produce energy, support immunity, and nourish the whole body.

Symptoms such as bloating, constipation, loose stools, reflux, fatigue, and food sensitivities are often signs that the body is asking for support.

Here’s a blog by Tania exploring bowel health from both a Chinese medicine and modern health perspective — including simple lifestyle tips to help support digestion naturally through food, movement, stress management, and daily habits.

The good news is that small consistent changes can make a big difference over time.

You can read the blog here: https://www.orientalwisdom.com.au/2016/06/01/how-healthy-is-your-bowel/

And if you’ve been wanting more support with healthy eating, seasonal living, and self-care, these are also themes Tania explores in her Seasonal Self-Care Workshops and in clinic through acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Winter has definitely arrived in the Blue Mountains.

As the temperature drops, many people begin to notice the familiar return of aches and pains — a stiff neck, a sore shoulder, a troublesome hip, or that old injury making itself known again.

In clinic, Tania has noticed something interesting over the years. For some people, these issues don't just appear anywhere in the body. They consistently show up on the same side — always the left, or always the right.

From a Chinese medicine perspective, this can be more than just a physical pattern. It may offer clues about how we're moving through life, the balance between doing and being, giving and receiving, effort and rest.

Tania has just written a new blog exploring one-sided body pain through the lens of yin and yang, and what these recurring patterns might be trying to tell us.

It's not about overanalysing every ache and pain. Sometimes pain is simply pain. But sometimes there is more to it.

You can read the blog here: https://www.orientalwisdom.com.au/2026/06/01/one-sided-body-pain-meaning/

We would love to hear if you've ever noticed a tendency for pain, tension, or injuries to favour one side of your body.

Eat with the Season — Winter in NSW

Winter invites us to slow down, rest more deeply, and nourish ourselves with warming, sustaining foods.

In Chinese medicine, winter is linked with the Kidney and Bladder systems — our foundation of energy, resilience, and restoration. This is the season to conserve energy rather than push through exhaustion.

One of the simplest ways to support your health in winter is to eat with the season.

• Choose warm, cooked meals such as soups, stews, casseroles, and roasted vegetables
• Use warming spices like ginger, cinnamon, and chai spices to support circulation and digestion
• Reduce excessive cold foods and icy drinks to help protect your digestive fire

Eating seasonally also means enjoying produce when it’s naturally abundant, fresher, and often more nutritious.

The Sydney Markets winter seasonal guide is a wonderful resource for discovering what’s currently in season locally:
https://www.sydneymarkets.com/markets/produce-market/whats-in-season/winter-2020.html

If you’d like to explore winter self-care more deeply, Tania's upcoming Winter Seasonal Self-Care Workshop on June 28 in Katoomba will explore:
• Winter foods and Chinese dietetics
• Rest, restoration, and protecting energy
• Qigong practices for winter wellbeing
• Simple seasonal rituals and self-care practices

Early bird pricing is currently available.

As the body softens, the mind often follows😊
Improved mobility isn’t just about walking further or stretching more freely – it’s about rediscovering a natural sense of flow. When movement becomes smoother and less restricted, your nervous system settles, tension softens, and your mood often lifts with it. There is quiet confidence that comes from feeling comfortable in your own body again.
Bowen Therapy works gently to support this process. By addressing the fascia and calming the nervous system, it helps restore fluidity in movement, so walking feels lighter, turning feels easier, and your body begins to move as it was designed to.

If you’re ready to feel more ease, more flow, and a brighter sense of wellbeing, Bowen Therapy may be a supportive step forward.
