We’re growing and we’re looking for the right person to grow with us.

Sports Recovery Hub is hiring a Remedial Massage Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in Keilor.

This isn’t your average treatment room. You’ll be working alongside physios, chiros, and exercise scientists who are all focused on one thing, getting people better for the long term.

What the role looks like:
• 10 to 15 hours per week to start
• Extra hours available through patient overflow
• Real room to grow as the clinic expands

We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about patient outcomes, loves working in a team, and wants to build something, not just fill a schedule.

If that sounds like you, send us a DM or drop your details via the link in bio.

Booking with a new clinic can feel like a big commitment. We made a way around that.

We mention the free 10-minute discovery call in almost every post. But we’ve never actually told you what happens in it.

So here it is.

The discovery call is a free, no-pressure Zoom call designed for one thing: helping you figure out if we’re the right fit before you commit to anything.

Here’s what we actually talk about:

• What’s going on — your injury, your pain, how long it’s been happening
• What you’ve already tried and why it hasn’t fully worked
• What your goals are (getting back to sport, managing daily pain, improving performance)
• Whether our approach is the right one for your situation or who we know outside of the clinic we can refer you to.
• What the next step would look like if you decide to go ahead

What it’s not:
A sales pitch
A rushed intake form
A commitment to book

Some people come in after the call. Some don’t. Either way, you leave with more clarity than you had before.

We introduced it because we know that booking a first appointment with a new clinic can feel like a big step — especially if you’ve had experiences where you weren’t listened to, or you left with more questions than answers.

The call removes that friction. You get to ask your questions, hear how we work, and decide if it feels right.

Ten minutes. No obligation. Just a conversation.

Book your free discovery call via the link in bio.

Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people stop exercising, but movement is often part of the solution.

Here are 5 exercises I regularly prescribe to help improve mobility, build strength, and restore confidence in movement:

1️⃣ Banded Cat-Camel
Improves spinal mobility, reduces stiffness, and builds confidence in moving your back.

2️⃣ Banded Hip Hitch
Strengthens the glutes and improves pelvic control, helping reduce unnecessary stress on the lower back.

3️⃣ Banded Dead Bug
Builds core control while teaching your trunk to stay stable during movement.

4️⃣ Pallof Press
Challenges your core to resist rotation, improving trunk stability and control.

5️⃣ Modified McGill Curl-Up
Improves abdominal endurance and spinal support with minimal stress on the lower back.

Remember: the best exercise isn’t the one you see on Instagram, it’s the one that’s right for your injury, goals, and current capacity.

While these are great starting points, the most effective rehab plan is always tailored to the individual. If you’re dealing with back pain, recurring flare-ups, or want guidance returning to the gym, running, work, or sport, a thorough assessment can help identify the right approach for you.

Book in with Niall Kershaw, Physiotherapist, for an assessment and personalised rehabilitation plan.

Most people think injuries are simple:

❌ Pain = damage
❌ MRI = diagnosis
❌ Surgery = fix
❌ Pain gone = recovered

But the human body is far more complex.

Understanding these 5 concepts can help you make better decisions about your injury, recovery and long-term health.

At The Sports Recovery Hub, our Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Myotherapists focus on helping you understand your injury, build capacity and return to the things you love—not just chase symptoms.

ACL INJURIES ON THE RISE IN THE AFL

The 2025 & 2026 AFL season has already seen a concerning rise in ACL injuries compared to the same stage in previous seasons.

But here’s the important context: this increase is currently being seen at the ELITE level.

What about community sport?
At the community level, ACL injuries remain a major issue — especially in football, netball, basketball, soccer, and change-of-direction sports.

ACL injuries commonly occur during:
• Cutting and pivoting
• Landing mechanics
• Deceleration
• Fatigue-related movement breakdown
• Poor load management and recovery

Research suggests several factors may be contributing to the increased prevalence at the elite level:
• Increased game speed and intensity
• Higher cumulative training and match loads
• Reduced recovery windows between games
• Fatigue accumulation across long seasons
• Greater physical demands during high-speed efforts
• Improved injury reporting and surveillance

The bigger question is:
Are community athletes doing enough PRE-HAB before injuries happen?

Research consistently shows that structured prehabilitation and performance programming can significantly reduce ACL injury risk.

Key focus areas include:
✔️ Strength development
✔️ Single leg control and stability
✔️ Landing and cutting mechanics
✔️ Hamstring and glute strength
✔️ Change of direction training
✔️ Load management and recovery
✔️ Sport-specific movement preparation

At The Sports Recovery Hub in Keilor, our Physiotherapists, Myotherapists, Chiropractors and Performance team help athletes and active individuals improve resilience, movement quality, and injury prevention before problems occur.

Whether you play local football, netball, run, train in the gym, or compete recreationally — injury prevention matters.

Lots of people are nervous about dry needling.

And that’s completely valid. Your comfort matters.

But here’s what I want you to know—dry needling is one of the most effective tools we have for releasing deep trigger points and resetting muscle tension patterns. And it’s nothing like getting an injection.

Here’s how it actually works:

• Hair-thin needles (way smaller than injection needles)
• Targets trigger points causing referred pain
• Releases muscle knots that manual therapy can’t always reach
• Resets nervous system patterns keeping muscles tight
• Often provides relief faster than other techniques

What it feels like: a quick pinch, sometimes a muscle twitch (that’s actually a good sign—it means we hit the trigger point). Most people say “that’s it?”

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁: you’re always in control. If you’re not comfortable with needling, we have other options. Cupping, manual trigger point release, instrument-assisted therapy—we work with YOUR comfort level.

Your body isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is our treatment.

Curious about dry needling but have questions? Book a consultation at our Keilor clinic and we’ll talk through what feels right for you. Link in bio.
