This October, our team is getting involved in the DLD x Marks the Spot Scavenger Hunt to help raise awareness and funds for Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)! 💜💛

We’ll be putting our detective skills to the test, completing challenges, finding clues and having plenty of fun along the way — all while supporting an incredibly important cause. 🔎✨

💬 DLD affects approximately 1 in 14 people and can make it difficult to understand and/or use language.
🧠 DLD is a lifelong condition that can impact communication, learning, friendships and everyday life — but with the right support, people with DLD can thrive.

🎒✨ PREP FOR PREP | SCHOOL HOLIDAY GROUP ✨🎒

Is your little one getting ready for big school? 🌟 Our Prep for Prep group is designed to help children build the skills they need to feel confident, capable and ready for the transition to school!

👫 Small group setting
🧑‍⚕️ Therapist-led sessions
🗣️ Speech Pathology + Occupational Therapy
🎯 Fun, practical school readiness activities

We’ll target key skills such as:
📚 Following instructions & listening
💬 Communication & social skills
✏️ Fine motor & pre-writing skills
📚 Sounds and early literacy skills
🤝 Turn-taking, sharing & group participation
🎒 Independence & classroom routines
❤️ Confidence, regulation & getting ready to learn

Our small groups allow children to practise these skills in a supportive, fun and engaging environment — all while making new friends and having fun!

❤️ Cystic Fibrosis Awareness ❤️

Today is World Cystic Fibrosis day. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a lifelong genetic condition that can affect the lungs and digestive system, and because it can be an invisible illness, there is often much more happening beneath the surface than we can see.

This World Cystic Fibrosis Day, let’s do more than wear red - let’s build understanding, show empathy and take simple steps to support the CF community — especially when it comes to good hygiene and staying home when we’re unwell. ❤️

Today we celebrate the rich stories, languages and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the powerful role that stories play in helping children connect, communicate and learn. ❤️💛🖤

Such an amazing achievement from Sadie today! We will be putting together a team for X Marks the spot in October in support of Sadie, DLD and The DLD Project 💜

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Sadie and her mum, Gail, to City Hall, where they shared Sadie’s story and helped shine a light on Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).

DLD affects how a person understands and uses language. It is one of the most common childhood conditions, yet also one of the least understood, making conversations like todays especially important.

In support of DLD awareness, next month the Story Bridge will be lit up in purple in honour of Sadie and to help highlight this important cause.

Sadie and Gail also joined us to spread the word about “X Marks the Spot,” a DLD treasure hunt taking place in Brisbane on Friday 16 October, raising funds and awareness for DLD Day.
