That’s a wrap on our Women’s Health Luncheons💜

We had a fabulous time hosting these events and would like to sincerely thank all the wonderful women who attended in Cohuna and Pyramid Hill. It was fantastic to see so many women come together to learn, connect and prioritise their health and wellbeing.

We’re also incredibly grateful to our guest speakers for sharing their knowledge and insights, helping create informative and meaningful conversations around women’s health and wellbeing.

A special thank you to Pyramid Hill Bakery for the beautiful and plentiful catering across the events.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting Chris Christoforou, CEO of the Victorian Alcohol and Drug Association (VAADA), at NDCH.

VAADA leads Victoria's AOD policy, workforce development and sector-wide discussion to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug harms across the state.

Chris heard directly from NDCH staff and community partners about the realities of harm minimisation and withdrawal for people accessing AOD support in our rural community.

These conversations are vital in ensuring rural voices shape state-level policy. Thank you Chris and VAADA for listening and engaging with our community. 🤝

🌟 Grace’s Work Experience at NDCH

Last week, NDCH welcomed Grace Carter from Kerang Technical High School for her Year 10 work experience placement.

During her time with us, Grace had the opportunity to observe and learn from a range of teams and programs across the organisation, including allied health, health promotion, community nursing, counselling, and community support services.

She participated in client observations, community events, and program activities, gaining a broader understanding of the many ways NDCH supports our local community 💚

Grace shared that one of the most valuable parts of her placement was seeing how closely teams work together to support clients and improve health outcomes. She also reflected positively on the supportive and welcoming culture at NDCH, noting that staff encouraged questions, shared their knowledge, and helped her feel included throughout the week 😊

The placement also gave Grace further insight into potential future career pathways in healthcare and community services, particularly in allied health 🌱

We thank Grace for spending the week with NDCH and wish her all the best with her future studies and career aspirations 🎓✨

Residents from across the Gannawarra will unite on Wednesday, 27 May to recognise and celebrate National Reconciliation Week.

Proceedings will begin at 10am with a flag raising ceremony outside the Kerang Council Building in Victoria Street, before community members and local leaders come together for the Reconciliation Walk to The Glasshouse.

From 10.25am, The Glasshouse will host a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country, followed by storytelling, cultural sharing activities, and the announcement of winners from the National Reconciliation Week poster colouring competition.
