πŸƒ Runners, are you feeling tight after hitting the kilometres?

Dry needling is one technique our practitioners may use as part of an individualised treatment plan.

For some runners, dry needling may help support muscle comfort and mobility alongside other approaches such as exercise, load management and hands-on care.

Every runner is different, so whether dry needling is appropriate depends on your individual needs and assessment.

Interested? Come and try it with Deeya at our Kew and Burnside Heights practices.

Cupping does a lot more than just give you those cool looking marks πŸ˜‰

Some of the benefits of cupping:
βœ… Increases local blood flow
βœ… Provides short terms pain relief
βœ… Can reduce sensitivity
βœ… Can improve sleep

But what it doesn't do:
❌ "Get's rid of toxins"
❌ "The darker the mark, the sicker you are"
❌ "Improves whole body circulation"
❌ "Boosts your immune system"
❌ "Releases lactic acid"

Cupping is a useful tool in the recovery kit, but it isn't a miracle fix.

Performance doesn't end at the finish line.

Recovery is one of the most important parts of any race. After pushing the body to its limits, muscles can be left fatigued, tight and under significant stress.

Remedial massage can play an important role in the recovery process, helping to reduce muscle tension, improve mobility and support circulation after competition.

For runners, targeted treatment can also address areas carrying the greatest load, including the calves, hamstrings, quads and glutes, helping the body recover before returning to training.

Combined with rest, hydration and nutrition, effective recovery helps prepare the body for whatever comes next.

Looking after your body is part of the performance.

Dry needling is not acupuncture ❌

Whilst they use the same tools, they have two different goals.

Acupuncture works with energy points along meridians.

Dry needling on the other hand targets tight muscle knots, known as a trigger point.

Very similar, but two different goals.

As they say, work hard, but recover harder πŸ˜‰

The progress you're looking for, is in the recovery you're avoiding.

Meet Helen - she has been a client of Rehab+ since 2019.

What a privilege it is to be a part of someone life journey, from recurring injuries, training changes, career and life changes, meeting her husband and now into motherhood!

Treatments aren’t just for when you’re injured, they can help you navigate your day to day - the body is forever learning and adapting, every stage of life can present a different challenge, and doing it alone can make it seem harder than it needs to be.

We’ve been able to help Helen understand her body, how to train for her goals, how her physical and mental health link and show up in her body, how hormones and pregnancy create new differences, what to expect moving forward with a baby, and how she can manage it all with confidence.
