Lots of conversations lately around the impact of stress on appetite😅 stress promotes the body’s reward response to food and eating, increasing appetite and intake of foods that are usually high energy, palatable foods like chips and chocolate.
For women particularly, stress and increased levels of the stress hormone cortisol can lead to reduced fullness and satiety, increasing the likelihood of stress-induced eating. Cortisol dysregulation associated with chronic stress is also linked to interrupted hunger and fullness cues which can make trusting your body around food extremely difficult.
