Key Benefits of Remedial Massage

An immediate benefit of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm, this occurs because therapeutic touch prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Some of the physical benefits of massage include:
• Reduced muscle tension, tones and relaxing muscles
• Improved circulation and stimulation of the lymphatic system
• Reduction of stress hormones
• Increase joint mobility and flexibility
• Improved skin tone
• Speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms
• Gives a sense of overall Wellbeing
• A calming effect on the peripheral nervous system which eases pain and discomfort in the body
• Relaxation that allows our minds and bodies to recharge and rejuvenate

It is important to drink plenty of water after the massage to flush metabolic waste from the tissues. Therapeutic Touch
Therapeutic touch has shown to increase attention span, memory recall, laughter, relaxation, vitality and social interaction, posture, body awareness and skin colour. Improves blood circulation, relieves pain, increase ROM, and helps maintain and improve overall health and retain certain physical functions. There is a reduction in anxiety and provides comfort. Massage means interaction; there is a physical and emotional effect on your client with a massage. The lack of touch can lead to psychiatric or physical problems, it can lead to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and lethargy, lack of caring touch can result in diminishing quality of life. Qualified Massage Techniques

Swedish massage - uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding, petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping, friction (cross fibre) and vibration/shaking. Deep Tissue Focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue, especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas, the strokes are slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. Trigger Point Therapy involves deactivating trigger points within muscles that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, (such as headaches) in other parts of the body. Manual pressure is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain. Myofascial Release Therapy - refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument, and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and equilibrioception. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions or by skin rolling. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage technique used to gently work and stimulate the lymphatic system, to assist in the reduction of localised swelling. Reflexology - based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet that relate to every organ, gland, and system of the body. Passive & Active Stretching - stretching techniques used to gradually increase the range of movement. PNF Stretching - Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching is a combination of passive and isometrics contractions to increase range of movement to improve biomechanics. What is Reiki

Reiki is the name for a Japanese healing method that corrects energy imbalances in the body and is applied through the hands. The result is a deeply relaxing experience which is excellent for stress management and self-healing. Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life-force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, depression, anxiety and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy, increasing our built-in defences. This can manifest itself as confidence and outward harmony in dealing with everyday events. It can also help you gain a positive outlook on life! When we are relaxed, stress-free, we are able to restore our natural ability to heal.

As we enter into the season of Winter the days get shorter and darker. This is a great time to reflect on the four seasons of our cycle and our own internal winter.

Winter starts with the first day of your bleed when hormone levels have plateaued and your body is preparing for the month ahead. But remember, Winter isn’t just about when you’re bleeding, it’s about the qualities of Winter and your experience of them.

“This is the phase of the cycle where hormone levels are low, which is why some of you will feel knackered and uninterested in what’s going on around you. Maybe you’ve got full on period symptoms that make hibernating a necessity (girl, I’ve been there), but even if you don’t and your period doesn’t affect you much, I recommend taking some time for yourself to do something that feels good and nourishing.” Maisie Hill

It’s a time of detox, rest, and restoration, to slow down and claim time for yourself. While society expects us to be the same every day, it’s important to surrender to this downtime and honour your bleed. Embrace this chance to replenish your energy, paving the way for the month ahead.

Remember, your Winter experience can be influenced by the events of the previous month. The quality of your period reflects the lead-up to it—factors like food, sleep, stress, emotions, exercise, and life events all leave their mark.

Take the opportunity to reflect on the past month, acknowledging any achievements and challenges and setting intentions for the coming month. Tap into your intuition and embrace the wisdom residing in your womb. A well-rested woman possesses the power to conquer the world, or at the very least, her own world.

“From day 3 there’s a gentle upswing of oestrogen, so even though the amount of oestrogen here is relatively low, it might be enough for you to detect an improvement in mood and energy. But even if you’re feeling good, I recommend going at 70% until you’re into your Spring season as it’s more useful to let your energy gather so that you’re firing on all cylinders in Spring and Summer.” Maisie Hill

May is Menstrual Health Awareness Month and today, 28 May, we celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day — a global movement to create a and break the stigma around menstruation.

What is Menstrual Hygiene?

It’s about staying clean and comfortable during your period:
✔ Using sanitary pads, tampons, menstrual cups or period un**es
 ✔ Changing products regularly
✔ Washing the ge***al area with water
✔ Having access to safe, private spaces for changing and disposal

Many conventional pads and tampons contain plastics, chemicals, and toxins — increasing the risk of allergies and irritation. Consider switching to natural options like organic cotton pads, reusable cloth pads, period un**es, or menstrual cups.

🩸But menstrual health is more than just bleeding days.

It’s about understanding your entire cycle — a vital sign of health, fertility, and well-being. A healthy cycle averages 29 days, with ovulation around days 15–16. Tracking your cycle helps you tune in to your body’s unique rhythm.

Irregular cycles, mid-cycle spotting, unusual cervical mucus, and painful periods may be early signs of underlying health issues.

Your diet matters too! Hormonal balance is supported by nutrient-dense whole foods. Processed foods can worsen PMS, acne, cramps, and conditions like PCOS and Endometriosis.

Nourishing your body also means feeding your mind, emotions, and spirit — all are connected to menstrual wellness.

After a womb massage, it’s important to protect and nurture your body. Pay close attention to any changes in how you feel. Consider keeping a journal to track symptoms and improvements along your journey. Your body’s signals are valuable guides on the path to wellness. Here’s what you could experience in the days ahead:

*Tenderness: It’s normal to feel a slight tenderness post-massage as your body adjusts to the release of ligaments and increased abdominal mobility.

*Physical and Emotional Release: The massage can unleash both physical and emotional changes, enhancing the flow of blood, lymph, and energy in your body.

*New Sensations: You might notice mild cramp-like feelings or spotting, indicating your body is adjusting and letting go of fluids it no longer needs.

*Digestive Response: An increase in bowel movements is common and reflects a positive response to the treatment.

*Changes in Menstruation: Expect potential changes in your menstrual cycle, including heavier bleeding or discharge. This is your body shedding old tissue.

*Emotional Release: The massage can also unlock stored emotions, reflecting the connection between mind and body.

Remember, if you experience discomfort beyond three days, it’s essential to seek advice from your healthcare professional. Take care of yourself!

Today, on International Day of Families, we celebrate the importance of families as the heart of our communities, cultures, and societies.

Families come in many shapes and forms — whether connected by blood, friendship, guardianship, or chosen bonds. Family is where we find comfort, belonging, acceptance, and connection. It’s where we find our tribe.

Research shows that strong family connections play a vital role in living a fulfilling life. Stable and supportive families contribute to child development, wellbeing, and emotional resilience. Spending time with loved ones can reduce stress and anxiety, encourage healthier lifestyles, and even help us live longer.

We also recognise that not everyone has family support close by. But today reminds us that community can become family too — through kindness, care, and meaningful connection.

Let’s celebrate the resilience, love, and support that families offer every day. Take a moment today to express gratitude and remind the people in your life just how much they mean to you.

“Woman, There is great power in your cyclical nature, for we are nature itself. We, like nature, create life and live by nature’s rhythms. The soft animal that is your truest nature knows this at the deepest level.

Woman, Our job is to remember, to strip away the layers of societal conditioning and interference, the image of the “good girl” and come home to our most natural textures and rhythms. Every or****ic joy, every primal scream, every gut instinct, every deep sorrow and wail of grief, every moment of surrender to rest, the shedding of the old, every ounce of our creative power is to be allowed, honored, and again made sacred.

Woman, You are sacred. Not only in your brightest light, but also in your darkening. Your greatest power lies in flowing with your rhythm and surrendering the fight against nature, your nature. Because in the end, Mother Nature always wins. Our choice lies in whether or not we choose to assist in her unfolding.”

April 22nd is International Mother Earth Day

Today, we honor the Earth—our shared home, our life source, our Mother. She embodies the divine feminine energy: nurturing, powerful, and infinitely generous. She provides us with everything we need—air, water, food, beauty, balance. But like any mother, she needs care in return.

This year’s Earth Day theme is “OUR POWER, OUR PLANET”— which reflects the idea that Environmental stewardship is sustained by the daily decisions of communities, educators, workers, innovators, and families who understand that protecting the places they live and work is both a responsibility and a long-term investment. (Earth day.org)

It’s a reminder that each of us holds the power to shape the future of this planet. Our choices matter. Our voices matter. Together, we are the power behind the movement toward a cleaner, more just world.

There is a sacred interconnectedness between all living beings and the Earth. When we tap into our feminine energy—whether we identify as women or not—we reconnect with that innate wisdom, compassion, and respect for life. We move in rhythm with nature, not against it.

As activist Jamie Margolin said:
“... if you learn how we are all connected with nature and each other, one person’s suffering is our collected suffering. It’s not the Earth’s suffering, it’s all of our suffering.”

Let today be a reminder: every act of love, protection, and sustainability is a prayer for the future.

Protect what gives us life. Honor the feminine. Respect the Earth. Because when she thrives, so do we.

After a long, hot summer, it’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through autumn. The days are getting shorter, the air cooler… and nature is inviting us to slow down and turn inward.

Just like the seasons around us, we move through inner seasons each month within our menstrual cycle. By aligning with these rhythms, we can better understand our bodies, make more supportive choices, and nurture our overall wellbeing.

In the “autumn” phase of our cycle (after ovulation), progesterone becomes dominant. This hormone supports potential pregnancy, nourishes our breasts, and plays an important role in brain and nervous system health.

Energetically, this is a time for discernment. You may notice you have less to give — and that’s okay. It’s the perfect time to set boundaries, say “no” when needed, and prioritise rest.

If we enter this phase already feeling depleted, hormone levels can drop more quickly, leaving us feeling out of sync — think irritability, mood swings, or sugar cravings.
Instead of pushing through, this season invites reflection. What’s no longer working? What needs to shift? Give yourself space to listen.

And if you can, tread gently in your relationships — sensitivity can be higher now, and slowing down can help avoid unnecessary conflict.

Honour your autumn.
