April is Autism Acceptance Month, which is a time to raise awareness and promote understanding and inclusion of autistic individuals. This month is an opportunity for individuals on the autism spectrum, their families, and friends to celebrate and honor the unique strengths and contributions of individuals with autism.

As families that are part of the autism community, there are many ways to get involved and celebrate Autism Acceptance Month that go beyond wearing blue, joining a team in a walk or donating to a favorite organization.

Share Information with Other Students
The first step to promoting autism acceptance is to educate yourself and others. Spread the word about Autism Acceptance Month by sharing information with your classmates, teachers, and community members. Many of your child’s friends may not even realize the significance of this month.

Good Afternoon,

You may have heard , if not there is a great incentive that all travel will be 50 cents from 5th August for 6 months- also great for people with concession, good for you to use and also let those we support know about this.

Services

The 50 cent flat fare applies to all:
Queensland Rail City Train services (excluding Airtrain)
buses (excluding dedicated school buses)
Brisbane City ferries and Southern Moreton Bay Island Ferry
trams
on demand services.
Ticketing options

The 50 cent flat rate will apply to all go card, credit/debit card and paper ticket payments.
The SEQ network will remain cashless, but you can use cash to top up your go card at any of our fare machines at bus and train stations, or at our go card retailers.
Concessions and discounts

Off-peak travel discount

The 20% discount on off-peak travel will not apply during this time. All travel across zones and times of day will be a flat rate of 50 cents.
Concessions

The 50% concession fares will not apply during this time. Fares will be a flat 50 cent rate for everyone using public transport.
Seniors

If you're a Senior Concession Card holder, then you will be able to continue to travel free on Brisbane City Council buses and in the Gold Coast City Council areas during off-peak travel times.
Children

Children aged five to 14 will still be able to travel free on weekends using their orange child go card.
Children aged four years old and under will still be able to travel for free at all times.
Frequent journey discounts

The current frequency based discounts such as 8 journeys and half price and One, Two, Free won't apply during this time.

Disability Support Worker (psychosocial/Mental Health) - Start from 4th April

Currently, we're in search of Disability Support Worker who have experience working with mental health to assist female client in Stafford Brisbane. She requires support Mon,Tues, Thurs and Friday 11am to 2pm. for some community access, attending appointments, etc + some assistance in home at times. Supports to commence from Thursday 4th April.
Please note Support Workers need to be experienced in working with clients with psychosocial/mental health disability.

Looking to switch to Maximize Plan Managers?

PACE will make it even easier to make the switch to Maximize Plan Managers, from October 31 you won’t need to advise your existing plan manager of your decision to switch. Simply contact the NDIA directly to advise you want to change plan managers, endorse Maximize Plan Managers , and you’ll be switched over immediately!

There are two ways a participant or nominee can endorse a provider:

1. Contact the NDIA National Call Centre on 1800 800 110 and advise that they would like to endorse the provider.

2. Contact their Local Area Coordinator to advise that they would like to endorse the provider ( Maximize Plan Managers)

A participant may contact the NDIA directly to advise they want to change plan managers and they will have the choice and control to commence their new service immediately without a notice period.
