We only get one spine in our lifetime. Educating our young ones in how to protect our posture during long school hours will prevent long term health problems.
School backpacks can be a source of stain on the spine. A child's fully packed backpack should be no more than 10% of their body weight to avoid strain, (Australian Department of Education, 2023).
The way they carry their backpack matters, try to fasten the support straps so that the majority of the bags weight is carried on the hips. Carrying the backpack with both straps may make them look less cool, but it will protect them from spinal issues down the line.
If you or a young loved one are experiencing pain or discomfort or would like a spinal health screening, we are here to help.
