🌧️ Rainy Season Fatigue
The Science Behind Why You’re Feeling Drained

If you’ve been feeling tired, foggy, heavy, or emotionally flat during this wet season, there’s a clear physiological reason. Your body is responding to:
🔬 Lower barometric pressure → mild vasodilation + reduced oxygen efficiency
🔬 High humidity → increased cardiovascular load from thermoregulation
🔬 Reduced sunlight → disrupted melatonin/cortisol rhythm
🔬 Sensory overload from constant rain + environmental stress
🔬 Cognitive load from travel disruptions, uncertainty, and flood-related stress
Your nervous system is working much harder than usual — so your energy drops.

🖐️When the environment is dysregulating, giving your body structured support helps it return to baseline.

🌿 If your body is asking for support, I’m here.
You can book directly through my website at any time.

How Thoracic Spine Stiffness Affects Your Nervous System, Neck & Lower Back

The thoracic spine (mid-back) plays a key role in posture, breathing, and nervous system regulation.
When this area becomes stiff, the effects are rarely local.
Because the thoracic region houses the sympathetic chain, restriction here can increase baseline tension, limit breathing efficiency, and keep the nervous system in a heightened state.
When the mid-back doesn’t move well:
The neck compensates, often leading to tightness, headaches, and reduced rotation
The lower back overworks, increasing joint loading and muscle fatigue
In many cases, neck and lower back pain are not the primary problem — they are compensation patterns.
Restoring thoracic mobility supports:
Improved breathing and rib movement
Reduced sympathetic load
Better vagal tone
More efficient movement patterns
This is why nervous-system-informed manual therapy and thoracic mobilisation can have wide-reaching effects — not only on pain, but on overall regulation and wellbeing.

So many of us carry more emotion than we realise.

Not because we’re “strong”… but because our nervous system learned to protect us.
When life becomes overwhelming, the body does something automatic:
✨ It shuts down feeling to keep us functioning.
✨ It delays emotions until it’s safe.
✨ It numbs what would be too much to hold.
That’s why during the hardest moments you might feel:
“I can’t feel anything.”
“I should be crying but I can’t.”
“I know I’m stressed but I’m numb.”
“It hits me days or months later.”

This isn’t weakness.
This is a protective freeze response.
Your system wasn’t avoiding emotions —
it was saving you.
And when your body finally feels safer, emotions return:
🌿 Tears
🌿 Shaking
🌿 Grief
🌿 Softness
🌿 Feeling again

These aren’t signs you’re falling apart.
They’re signs your system is waking back up

Be gentle with yourself🩷
Your body has been protecting you for a long time.

✨ Why Pain Gets Better… Then Comes Back (Sometimes Worse)
Do you ever notice this pattern?

👉 A chronic pain eases after a few sessions
👉 You feel great for a while
👉 Then months later… it returns — sometimes even more intense

This is very common, and it doesn’t mean anything is “wrong” with your body or the treatment. There are clinical reasons why this happens:
1️⃣ The underlying pattern never changed
Massage reduces tension, but if posture, muscle activation, or movement habits stay the same, the old load eventually comes back.
2️⃣ Your nervous system remembers pain
Stress, poor sleep, or emotional load can “turn the volume up” again, even when tissues were fine.
3️⃣ Life load got heavier
Lifting, gardening, long sitting, or even seasonal changes in FNQ can push the body past its capacity.
4️⃣ No repatterning between sessions
Without strengthening, mobility work, or nervous system regulation, the body tends to fall back into the old pattern.
✨ The good news:
Chronic pain doesn’t have to be permanent.
Long-term change comes from a combination of:
• hands-on work
• movement retraining
• nervous system regulation
• small lifestyle adjustments
If your pain has returned or feels different, it doesn’t mean you’re “back to zero”.
It simply means your body is asking for the next layer of support.

✨ Can Deep Relaxation Feel “Unsafe”? A Nervous System Insight ✨

Sometimes during massage or craniosacral work, people drop into a very deep state of relaxation.
And for some clients — especially those who have lived with long-term stress or past trauma — the brain can misinterpret this calm as something unfamiliar or even “unsafe.”
This doesn’t mean anything is wrong.
It also doesn’t mean you’re going into a dorsal vagal shutdown.

What’s actually happening?
🌿 Your body is releasing long-held tension
🌿 Your sympathetic (fight/flight) system is softening
🌿 Your ventral vagal system is becoming active
🌿 Your nervous system is experiencing a new kind of safety
But if your body has been used to running on high alert, “letting go” can feel strange at first.
The brain may associate stillness with moments in the past that didn’t feel safe — so it sends a false alarm.
This is not collapse, but a natural part of nervous system recalibration.
Your system is learning that calm can be safe, and that you don’t have to hold everything all the time.

If you ever feel emotional, heavy, floaty, or unsure after a session, please know —
💛 your nervous system is reorganising
💛 nothing is wrong
💛 you’re not alone in the process
You are simply learning what safety feels like again.
