I’ve had the absolute pleasure of creating cakes, cookie cakes and custom cookies for birthdays, baby showers and some very special occasions lately 🎂🍪

🧶 Something a little different from the kitchen today…

I woke up to a message this morning that took me all the way back to 2013.

Long before This Mumma's Kitchen, I had another little handmade business called Bambinos and Beyond.

I made all sorts of things back then, but my absolute favourite was my Cuddly Creations — big handmade crochet toys, each one made especially for the little person it was going to.

One Christmas, I made a very special collection that travelled all the way from Australia to Canada. There was a rabbit, a sloth, a kangaroo, a panda with removable boots, monkey and a rattlesnake with a rattle in his tail. Each had its own little details and names stitched especially for the children receiving them.

This morning, their mum messaged me.
Her son Ashton is 23 now.
And his rattlesnake still sits on his computer desk. 🥹❤️
Thirteen years later.

I can't quite explain what that did to my heart.
It made me think about all the things I've made over the years — toys, blankets, gifts, and now breads, biscuits and cakes — and all the homes they've ended up in and the memories they've somehow become part of.

Maybe that's why the words "Around here, we still make things" have been feeling so right to me lately.

Because apparently I've been doing exactly that for a very long time.

Making things slowly.
Making things by hand.
Making things for people.

And sometimes, if you're very lucky, something you made with your own two hands becomes part of somebody else's story.

I think that's pretty special. 🤎

FROM THE OLD RECIPE BOOKS
Some recipes are just too good to leave sitting on the page. 🤎

This customer asked for a Ginger & Walnut Fluff to share with her craft group, so I pulled out an old Women’s Weekly recipe and got baking.

Ginger & walnut sponge, lactose-free vanilla cream, dark chocolate ganache and a scattering of walnuts.

Nothing fancy. Just a really good, old-fashioned cake made from scratch.
And judging by her message after they cut it…

“STACE, I’ve gone to Heaven…” 😂🤎

I think this one might be a keeper!

Fresh loaves out of the oven, orders being packed and the kitchen smelling ridiculously good.

One of my favourite parts of the week is seeing all those individual orders lined up ready to head out to their homes.
