Slipping. Tripping, Tumbling.
Falls are the leading cause of injury hospitalisations in Australia. Ouchy and inconvenient.
From the stairs. Out of bed. Moving furniture. Ladders. Roller skates. Playgrounds. Trees. Uneven footpaths…
The national data indicates that falling can injure any part of the body – but it’s the head and neck, hip and lower limb, and the shoulder and upper limb cop the bulk of it.
At Better Stronger we prescribe exercise to support people who have been injured in all the places.
Our exercise physiologists guide folks to restore mobility and strength so that the body parts come back into functional alignment. So, you can do stuff again.
But our programs are also preventative.
We prescribe exercises that build balance, bolster reactivity resilience and improve connection to their body. So, you don’t fall flat on your face in the first place.
This means that when you’re walking around at night, getting off the bus or tram, or loading yourself up to carry groceries, there’s stability and agility present in your system. You can move with confidence, trusting that you can get around; rebalancing any wobble and countering any obstacle. More info at https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/injury/falls
