Two centuries of hands have touched this wall. Two centuries of feet have softened this stone into the curved, luminous path you descend today.
This staircase has seen many steps, and many soles.
It has also tasted the saliva of all the kiddos who chose to fly down its remarkably polished surface.
It holds and stands at the energetic centre of this ancient home, breathing as a spine to the elevation for more discreet alcoves above.
It requires a unique awareness to be stepped down. Your alliance to the wall and the view make it a momentary ceremony.

This is the Nostradamus Fountain, in the heart of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
When I was little, I used to bring my pony here to drink. I already knew that Nostradamus had been born in this town, that he had written prophecies people were still trying to decipher four hundred years later. I thought that was rather wonderful.
Michel de Nostredame. Born here in 1503, on these same sun-warmed streets. Physician, astrologer, and the man who managed to see several centuries into the future, which is arguably a more useful skill than most.
I'm not sure my pony was impressed. But I was.
Saint-Rémy has always had a way of making the extraordinary feel like something you simply grew up next to.

Your body is the perfect tool for connecting to the source of energy available at all times, free and made of you. Or rather, from which you are already made.
Mother Earth.
Look at the pattern of your nervous system. Now look at the roots of a tree, the spread of a leaf, the web of mycelium beneath your feet. The biology is the same. We are not separate from nature. We are built in her image.
Sometimes the most evident truth is right under our noses, but it feels too simple to surrender to.

Our bodies are made of Nature, yet we live as though we are separate from her. I often wonder how we became so disconnected, how we came to abuse what sustains us, and what it will take for us to remember, say sorry, and learn her language once more.

We are finally shifting to a biological paradigm; it was time! Or is it?
