We had the pleasure of hosting Sam Tacey from Red Hot Tips at Gabby’s House on Flinders Island!

Sam came over for the show and carried out a few burn-offs while he was here.

Red Hot Tips is a vital resource for educating the community about fire, planned burning and bushfire prevention. Sharing knowledge and raising awareness helps keep our communities safer.

At 70 km long and 40 km wide, there’s a LOT to explore — beaches, mountains, hidden bays, wildlife and views that will absolutely destroy your phone storage! 📸

Then come home to Gabby’s House

Michelle, Bill & Family – Making the Most of Flinders Island! 🏝️

Michelle, Bill and their family stayed at Gabby’s House for 7 wonderful days and certainly made the most of their time on Flinders Island! ❤️

From meeting the famous Flinders Island wombats with the wonderful Kate Mooney 🐾, to fishing up at North East River 🎣, exploring the beautiful beaches 🏖️ and discovering the island’s incredible birdlife 🦅 — they truly captured the spirit of Flinders Island.

Seven days gave them plenty of time to slow down, explore, soak up the scenery and experience the incredible wombats, wildlife, beaches and wild beauty that make Flinders Island so special.

A huge thank you, Michelle, Bill and family, for choosing to stay at Gabby’s House. It was wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed your island adventure!

What an incredible wildlife encounter on Flinders Island! 😍

Michelle , one of our guests, was lucky enough to capture this amazing moment between a cheeky magpie and a majestic wedge-tailed eagle. 🦅

You just never know what you’re going to see when exploring Flinders Island — nature putting on a show right in front of you! 🌿🏝️

Trousers Point

120 beaches around Flinders Island… and here’s one of the best — Trousers Point!

Crystal-clear water, white sand, giant granite rocks and Mt Strzelecki towering above it all — it’s pretty hard to beat this little corner of paradise.

But have you ever wondered how Trousers Point got its unusual name? 👖😂

There are a couple of great stories…

One legend says that in 1872, sailor Richard Burgess survived the wreck of the Sarah Blanche and washed ashore here — unfortunately, he had somehow lost his trousers along the way! 😳😂

Another story dates to 1875, when the Cambridgeshire was wrecked nearby. Apparently, a box of surplus trousers washed ashore, giving the place its rather memorable name.

Whether either story is true, we’ll probably never know… but it certainly makes for a great yarn!

And the best part? Trousers Point is just one of around 120 beaches waiting to be explored around Flinders Island.
