We are incredibly proud to share that All About Autism has been named the Silver Winner in the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion category at the

While we weren't able to be in Melbourne to celebrate in person, we are truly honoured to receive this recognition.

At All About Autism, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about creating environments where autistic children and their families feel understood, valued, and supported to thrive.

This award reflects the dedication of our amazing team, the trust of the families we work alongside, and the incredible children who inspire us every day. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey. We are so grateful and excited to continue making a difference in our community.

One of our goals at AAA is to support the development of self-advocacy skills. That includes learning about personal boundaries and being able to say “no” safely.

Making “no” safe can feel counterintuitive, especially when we worry about avoidance or missed opportunities. “No” isn’t the answer to everything, but it is an important starting point.

When children know their “no” will be heard and respected, it builds the trust that relationships and learning depend on. This then leads to children being more likely to feel confident enough to try, explore and participate over time.

This is shift that can make a big difference, both here and at home.

At AAA, participation doesn’t have to look one particular way.

Sometimes it looks like sitting at the table.
Sometimes it’s on the floor, in a sensory tent, eating your snacks at the same time!

We support children to take part in ways that feel comfortable, manageable, and safe for them. Belonging isn’t about doing what everyone else is doing. It’s about being accepted as you are, and supported to engage in ways that feel right for you.

Authentic Belonging: We respect autonomy and identity so children can participate without pressure.

Belonging shouldn't depend on masking, performing, or fitting a mould. We create spaces where children can engage in ways that feel safe, meaningful, and true to who they are.

One simple way to reduce pressure and support regulation is to stay close without expecting interaction.

That might look like:
🟣sitting nearby
🟣sharing the space quietly
🟣joining in alongside without talking too much
🟣letting a child know you’re available without asking them to engage

Sometimes children don’t need conversation, questions, or encouragement. Sometimes they just need someone nearby who feels safe. That matters more than we often realise.

At AAA, we don’t expect relationships to be smooth all the time. We all get overwhelmed, get things wrong, and make mistakes. Hard moments happen. What matters most isn’t perfection - it’s about your capacity for repair.

Repair might look like:
🟣staying connected after a hard moment
🟣coming back calmly later
🟣acknowledging when something felt hard
🟣showing a child that the relationship is still safe

Children don’t need perfect adults. They need adults who stay, reconnect, and keep showing up.
