Could you recognise when someone is struggling, and know what to do next?

Over the past few weeks, I’ve shared quite a bit about conversations, about listening rather than fixing, about not needing the perfect words, and about the power of simply saying, “I’m here.”

Mental Health First Aid takes that a step further.

It’s practical, evidence-based training designed to give everyday people the knowledge and confidence to recognise when someone may be doing it tough, start a conversation and support them towards appropriate help.

You don’t need to work in mental health.

You simply need to care about knowing what to do when someone around you is struggling.

My last public Mental Health First Aid course is 16 + 17 September.

If you’ve been thinking about doing the training, I’d love to have you join us.

Send me a message for details or to secure one of the remaining places 🧡

I couldn’t resist sharing this.

There’s something about dragonflies that always makes me stop and notice. This one was so delicate + beautiful.

Maybe that’s the little Friday reminder today … to notice the things that make us smile.

The unexpected moments, or the tiny bits of beauty we might otherwise rush straight past.

Nothing profound.

Just a dragonfly, a moment, and something that made me smile.

I hope something small makes you smile today too 🧡

Five places left 🔥

I keep having these little moments where I think... this is really happening.

BELONG | Spring at Wild Wood is almost full.

I'm quietly working away behind the scenes, bringing together all the little details, warmth, nourishing food, rhythm + sound, nature, connection ... and still a few surprises I'm keeping to myself, because BELONG was never meant to be something you simply attend, it's something you experience.

Just five places remain for my very first one.

If you've been thinking about joining Emma and I, perhaps this is your little nudge.

“I’m not very good at slowing down" ... I hear versions of this quite often.

My mind doesn't stop, I can't sit still, or I wouldn't be any good at Yin.

But here's the lovely thing … you don't have to be good at slowing down, you don't have to arrive calm, you don't have to empty your mind, and you certainly don't need to have everything figured out before you get yourself onto your mat.

You can arrive busy, tired, distracted, carrying the day with you, and yin simply gives us an opportunity to notice what happens when, for a little while, we stop asking ourselves to keep going.

Some days the mind settles, and some days it doesn't. Both are okay.

The practice is simply making the space to show up exactly as we are 🧡

“There’s nothing brave in walking alone.”

These words have stayed with me.

I think sometimes we can confuse being strong with being able to carry everything on our own.

We push through, we keep going, and we tell ourselves, “I’m fine.”

But there is real courage in reaching out, in letting someone know we're struggling, in allowing someone to sit beside us when things feel hard, and sometimes, in simply accepting the words … “I’m here for you.”

Maybe strength isn't about walking alone.

Maybe it's knowing when to let someone walk beside us, and that is defintley brave and courageous 🧡

A heartfelt thank you to Devonport City Council for recognising just how important mental health knowledge and support are within the workplace.

It was a privilege to spend two days delivering (standard) Mental Health First Aid training to a wonderful group of Council staff.

Thank you to Council for investing in your people and giving staff the time and opportunity to develop these important skills. Thank you also to everyone who participated so openly, thoughtfully and respectfully. Your willingness to learn, contribute and engage in conversations that are not always easy made the training incredibly meaningful.

Workplaces have the capacity to make a real difference. When staff feel more confident noticing the signs that someone may be struggling, starting a conversation and guiding them towards appropriate support, it helps create a safer and more compassionate community for everyone.

Well done, Devonport City Council, for making the mental health and wellbeing of your staff a priority, and thank you for inviting me to be part of it.

My final public Standard Mental Health First Aid course for the year will be held on 16 and 17 September. If you would like to build the confidence and practical skills to support someone to have a mental health conversation, please get in touch for details or to secure your place.

For each BELONG experience, I want to bring together people whose work, values and way of being complement what I’m creating.

For my very first BELONG | Spring at Wild Wood, I’m so happy to be collaborating with the beautiful Emma, founder of Wild Wood Sanctuary.

Since returning to Tassie two years ago, Emma has been enjoying a slower pace of life, reconnecting with nature, family and friends.

Inspired by her sound training in Thailand, Emma now shares sound sessions created to nurture relaxation, stillness and connection. Her passion is creating gentle spaces where people can rest, restore and reconnect with their inner sense of calm through sound.

When I began curating Spring at Wild Wood, I knew I wanted rhythm and sound to be woven into the evening, and Emma's warmth, creativity and connection with the natural world felt like such a beautiful fit for BELONG.

There will be nourishing food, nature, rhythm, sound and connection ... and there are still some things I'm keeping tucked away, because some moments are simply better experienced.

I am super grateful for the response to my very first BELONG experience. There are now 10 places remaining.

If you've been thinking about joining us, perhaps this is your invitation.

And here she is ...

BELONG | Spring at Wild Wood

The very first BELONG signature experience.

An evening I've been quietly dreaming, planning and curating. Created as an invitation to step away from the everyday and return to yourself.

🧡 Think nourishing food.
🧡 Think rhythm and sound.
🧡 Think nature.
🧡 Think warmth, connection and a little gentle magic.

Some parts I'm deliberately keeping a surprise. I want there to be moments you simply arrive and experience.

Friday 25 September | 6–9pm
Meeting at 6pm in the Lakeside Tourist Caravan Park, Eugenana

Places are limited and bookings are now open.

For quite some time, I've been quietly carrying an idea in my heart ... an idea to create something beyond a class, workshop or event.

Beautiful, thoughtfully curated experiences for women that invite you to step away from the everyday for a little while.

To slow down, to experience, to connect, and to simply be.

That idea has become BELONG.

BELONG is a collection of four signature experiences each year, each one inspired by the changing seasons.

🧡Different locations.
🧡Different experiences.
🧡Thoughtful collaborations.
🧡Beautiful food.
🧡Nature.
🧡Connection... and always, a few things left to the imagination.

Each experience will have its own story and its own feeling, but at the heart of every BELONG experience will be the same intention ... Grounded. Connected. Nourished.

This September, my very first experience begins with BELONG | Spring at Wild Wood, an invitation to return to yourself.

I've been quietly curating this first experience for some time, and it feels very special to finally share BELONG more widely.

The response to Spring at Wild Wood has already been received well, and places are limited. If you feel drawn to be part of my very first BELONG experience, I'd love to welcome you.

I'll be sharing a little more about BELONG very soon, including the beautiful collaboration behind my first experience, while keeping just a few surprises tucked away.

What are you doing on Thursday 20 August, 7:30-9pm?

I’m inviting you to come + join me for
a FREE screening of SEEN, The Film. Hosted by Trauma Awareness Network Australia.

Seen is a powerful documentary that explores how our earliest experiences shape the developing brain, our nervous system, and the relationships we build throughout life.

It offers a fascinating insight into child brain development, helping us understand why children behave the way they do and how connection, safety, and attuned relationships can have a lifelong impact.

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, carer, educator, health professional, or simply curious about understanding yourself and others more deeply, this film is both insightful and deeply hopeful.

I’d love to see you there and be part of this conversation.

Afterwards there will be an opportunity for a Q+A with two psychologists, Kristine Bull and Sinead Fahey.

I’m grateful to be a part of this organisation.
