🌦️ Being prepared can make all the difference in an emergency.
We're pleased to share this important work from Tasmania SES, supporting people with disability to plan ahead for floods, storms, bushfires and other emergencies.
Check out the resources below and start the conversation about emergency preparedness today.

Everyone needs to get ready for emergencies.

People living with disability usually have extra things to think about, so it’s even more important to prepare for floods, storms, bushfires and other emergencies – and we’re here to help.

Through the Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) Project, we are partnering with other organisations such as:

πŸ”Ά Speak Out Association of Tasmania - attending expos and hosting workshops at the state Speak Out conference this October.
πŸ”Ά ParaQuad Association of Tasmania Inc.
πŸ”Ά Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania
πŸ”Ά Mission Australia
πŸ”Ά Some local neighbourhood houses

SES is also working with Tasmania Fire Service and National Disability Services to provide scenario workshops for disability service providers so they can get ready to continue to support people during and after bushfires, floods and other emergencies.

For more information and resources, visit https://www.ses.tas.gov.au/pcep/ or email [email protected]

48% vs 80%.
That's the employment gap for Australians with disability.
The issue isn't ability. It's opportunity.
Every young person deserves a pathway to meaningful work, confidence and independence.
Be the change. Create opportunities. Open doors. Build inclusion.

We are super proud of this man who, after a long time of talking and thinking about doing more towards taking on tasks in the kitchen, sat down with his worker and completed the first steps (DoFoodSafety Certificate) with flying results!!!
Then backed it up with juicing fruits to deliver to his peers.
We can’t wait to see what you choose to do next JD :)

Could you help shape the future of NOSS Tasmania?

We’re looking for new volunteer board members to join NOSS β€” and use their skills in a way that directly changes lives.

Our board is actively engaged in shaping our direction β€” helping us grow, adapt and deliver meaningful impact in our community.

We are especially keen to hear from people with experience in:

πŸ’š Legal
πŸ’š Brand and marketing
πŸ’š Commercial / business

Our board isn’t a passive role. It means:

β€’ being part of real conversations about strategy, growth and risk
β€’ bringing your perspective and asking good questions
β€’ helping guide the long-term sustainability of the organisation
β€’ connecting us to ideas, opportunities and networks

This is a chance to meaningfully influence how a local organisation grows and evolves β€” and ultimately help create more opportunities for people with disability to work, connect and live the life they choose.

πŸ“ Volunteer role | Bi-monthly meetings

To find out more, contact Tracey Mallett on 0419 133 755 or [email protected], or Ruth Chalk on 0438 488 053 or [email protected].
