Sepsis September is at an end. But it’s not the end of our journey to raise awareness.

Sepsis robbed me of my love, it robbed my children of their Dad and our grandbabies of their Pa.
It kills me that we will never see him with the shirt that he always wore or his pin stripe suit. To hear him or listen to his laugh, I’d love to hear his dad jokes, his endless history lessons again. (If you know you know.)
I didn’t just lose my love, I lost our plans for the future. I lost my rock.
That’s why I continue to campaign for sepsis awareness and education for everyone.
In most cases Sepsis deaths can be preventable with rapid recognition and treatment.
Don’t wait ‘til it’s too late.

Even though when we went to our GP after Andrew had passed, the reception staff dressed in full PPE to greet us, sepsis is NOT contagious.

Big news…
Planning has started for a virtual walk to Canberra during Survivor Week in 2027. Followed by a presentation to politicians. The date is still to be confirmed.

Recently there has been a ad for a cure all product circulating on SM for post sepsis syndrome. Please be wary. We all survived sepsis yes, but our body's were affected differently, no two people are the same! For information on post sepsis syndrome stick to websites that have medically researched information such as The UK Sepsis Trust Sepsis Alliance Sepsis Trust NZ, these charities have support available. Another good medically based resource is ICUsteps website that has great resources on nutrition and rehabilitation post ICU, but can of course be beneficial if you were not in the ICU. The information on these websites can be taken to your Doctor to educate them on post sepsis syndrome so you get get medical support for symptoms.

Tomorrow is World Sepsis Day, let’s Light it up Pink.
Sepsis affects 84,000 people in Australia, 11,000,000 globally every year. They are crazy figures!
Sadly, it kills 12,000 people every year, like our wonderful husband, Dad and Pa. In a lot of cases Sepsis deaths are preventable.
Let’s raise awareness of the Symptoms of Sepsis, start a conversation today.
Don’t wait ‘til it’s too late.

Each year, sepsis affects over 84,000 Australians, and more than 12,000 will die. But many people don’t know what sepsis is.

❓Sepsis is a medical emergency, where any infection can quickly become life-threatening.

Sepsis happens when an infection sends the body’s immune system into overdrive, causing damage to tissues and organs. It needs early recognition and immediate treatment.

👇 Recognising the signs of sepsis early could save a life. These include:
- Fever and chills
- Low temperature
- Uncontrolled shaking or shivering
- Rapid breathing or rapid heart rate
- Fatigue, confusion or disorientation
- Not passing urine

👉 If you suspect sepsis in yourself or someone you care for, call 000 or to go to hospital. Just ask: “Could it be sepsis?”
