Starting life in a new country comes with challenges that many never see, including accessing basic healthcare.

As we head into winter, our Refugee Health Program team has been working hard to reduce barriers and support children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities (CALD) to stay well. Across three busy days, they provided free flu vaccinations to 690 new patients, showing what inclusive care looks like in action.

This does more than protect people from serious illness during the colder months. It also helps them feel safe, supported and truly welcome in Australia.

We’re so proud of everyone involved 👏

‘Spilling the tea’, ‘touching grass, ‘glowing up’. Have you used these terms before? 😆

Staying curious and open to new ideas is one of the best ways to keep our minds active as we age, and sometimes that curiosity leads to unexpected and fun conversations.

At a recent Refresh Your Mind class, participants were thrown into the world of Gen Z slang, discovering how many of these expressions were born online and quickly became part of modern language.

Everyone had a go at matching each phrase to its meaning and then using it in a sentence. A highlight of the session was learning from Shirley what it means to ‘cap that’.

To find our way forward, we first need to understand where we’ve come from.

As Uncle Stephen, a proud Darumbal man and Elder explains, that means learning about and understanding our shared history.

Reflecting on the Indigenous Map of Australia, he shared his pride in the different Countries that make up this land, each with their own customs and connections going back thousands of years.

While acknowledging the difficult parts of our nation’s history, Uncle Stephen also spoke about the importance of elevating the achievements, strength and culture of First Nations peoples.

We’re grateful to have Uncle Stephen as part of our First Nations Advisory Group, sharing his perspective and shaping our support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers and beyond.

National Sorry Day invites us to pause and reflect on the truths of our shared history. It acknowledges the Stolen Generation and the lasting harm felt today, with First Nations children still 9.6 times more likely to be placed in out-of-home care than other Australian children.

Today and year-round, we encourage you to reflect on your understanding of our nation's past and how you can be part of true reconciliation. For further information and resources, visit .

Each year on the 26th of May, National Sorry Day recognises the Stolen Generations and asks Australians to sit with the truths of our nation’s history.

Taking the time to listen and learn is not only about acknowledging the past. It’s about understanding the enduring pain experienced by First Nations peoples and seeing why equity is still being fought for today.

Smiles all around when you give something new a go 🙂

Our WILD team recently spent the day with young people from Foundation House at Britannia Creek Geological Reserve. The group made their way along the creek, wading through water and exploring caves as they went.

Adventure therapy is about getting outdoors and doing something hands on. As the day unfolded, you could see people finding their rhythm, supporting each other through the trickier sections and enjoying the chance to just be out in nature.

Thanks to Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and Outdoors Victoria for another great adventure.

When Asal first joined us as a volunteer in 2022, her goal was to become a psychologist. But experience supporting young people revealed a different path, and she chose to follow it.

Given the opportunity to contribute ideas, take on meaningful responsibility, and explore what mattered to her, Asal built confidence and discovered where she could have the greatest impact.

Today, she works in our team as a Multicultural Mental Health Clinician, supporting young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to access culturally safe and inclusive care.

Her journey shows the value of volunteering, not only in building experience, but in helping you discover where you’re meant to be ❤️

When people show up for what they believe in, anything is possible 💛

We’re incredibly proud and grateful to have over 250 volunteers supporting the work we do here at Each. These are people who dedicate their time and experience to strengthening our services and making a real difference in people’s lives.

They support a range of programs, including those that work alongside young people, families and older adults, helping us stay connected to those we serve across Australia.

From all of us at Each, and on behalf of our customers and communities, thank you to every volunteer for your generosity and commitment to altogether better care.

Fun fact: your mind needs movement too 🏋️🏃🏽‍♀️

As Joel, an Occupational Therapist from our Refresh Your Mind program, shares — keeping your mind active as you age can be as simple as:

• gently challenging yourself
• building productive routines
• using a diary to organise your thoughts

Abseiling asks a lot. It calls for trust in yourself, the equipment, and the people around you. It’s about meeting fear and choosing to take the next step anyway 🧗🏽‍⛰️

Last week, our adventure therapy team WILD spent the day guiding participants from Open House through an abseiling experience at Seven Acre Rock, Victoria.

Team Leader Matt shared that the day began with a walk through forest and ancient tree ferns before reaching the Seven Acre Rock outcrop. From there, the group completed two descents, starting with a technical drop of around 12 metres and building up to a 50‑metre abseil, with views stretching all the way to Western Port Bay.

Experiences like these offer a supported way to step outside your comfort zone, and the everyone did a great job taking on the challenge. Thanks to DEECA Greater Melbourne, Outdoors Victoria and Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action for them possible!
