If you're new to the NDIS, the funding categories can feel overwhelming. There are different buckets, different rules, and sometimes it feels like you need a decoder ring to understand what your plan actually covers.

Here's something that might help. Support workers come under "Supports for Daily Activities" in your plan. What they help with depends entirely on your goals. Getting ready in the morning. Managing medication. Getting out into the community. Building daily living skills. Your plan is yours, and your supports are shaped around what matters to you.

The key thing to know is that supports need to be reasonable and necessary, and linked to your disability-related needs and NDIS goals.

Sometimes, a young person needs a safe place to stay, temporarily, outside of their family home.

Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC) is a short-term, voluntary option for children and young people aged 5 to 17 in NSW. It's not foster care. It's not a permanent placement. It's a supported residential arrangement designed to give families breathing room during a difficult time.

SSRC is used when a family is under significant stress or going through a period of crisis, and both the family and the young person agree it's the right option.

Greater Support offers SSRC in NSW.

Aged care support has changed significantly this year. And for many families in Sydney, that has meant confusing letters, unfamiliar terms, and questions that aren't easy to get answered.

If you or someone you love was on a Home Care Package, your service will transition to the new Support at Home program. If you're accessing aged care for the first time, the pathway looks different too.

But the key message is simple: you don't have to figure this out alone.
