🌟 This is what community access is all about! 🌟

A great day out for Geoff and Mark with Jacqui and Suzee-Lee, getting out of the house, enjoying a meal, spending time together and being part of their local community. 🧡

adaptCARE, we encourage all that support is about so much more than completing the necessities of a shift.

Whenever possible, we want to see our participants out, engaged and experiencing life. That might be lunch at the local club, a walk, a drive somewhere different, visiting the shops, attending an event, catching up with people, or simply getting out for a coffee.

It doesn’t always have to be a big planned activity. Sometimes the simplest outings can make the biggest difference.

Our role as support professionals is to create opportunities, encourage participation and help remove the barriers that might otherwise keep someone at home. Of course, participant choice always comes first, but we should be offering those choices and opportunities.

A big shout-out to Jacqui and Suzee-Lee for doing exactly that with Geoff and Mark. 👏

This is the kind of support we love seeing across adaptCARE, people supported to live, participate, connect and enjoy their community.

🎪🎉 WHAT A NIGHT! 🎉🎪

Tonight’s adaptCARE Carnival Disco was another incredible night filled with music, dancing, laughter and plenty of carnival fun! 🎡🎠💃🕺

The dance floor was certainly put to good use, and seeing so many familiar faces, along with some new ones, coming together, having fun and simply enjoying themselves is exactly why we love hosting these nights. 🧡🖤

For us, these discos have always been about much more than music and dancing. They’re about inclusion, connection, friendships and creating a space where everyone belongs.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along tonight, and to all the families, carers, support workers and members of our community who continue to support these events and make them what they are.

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone behind the scenes who helped bring tonight together. These nights don’t happen without people giving their time and energy to make them special.

Another fantastic adaptCARE disco in the books! 🎪✨

We hope everyone went home with tired feet, big smiles and some great memories.

🎨 A very special addition to the adaptCARE office! 🧡

We were incredibly proud to be the successful bidder for this amazing piece of artwork at the 2026 New Horizons Tasmania Crocodile Dundee Gala (Silent Auction).

Created by members of the New Horizons Arts and Crafts Group, this piece is absolutely bursting with colour, creativity and personality, and now it has found its permanent home proudly displayed in our office.

We’ve also displayed photos of some of the talented artists alongside their work, because the people and the story behind the artwork are just as important as the finished piece itself.

For us, this is about much more than having something beautiful on the wall. It represents inclusion, participation, creativity, community and opportunity, values that mean so much to us at adaptCARE.

We absolutely love it, and it certainly brings some colour to the office! 🌈

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in creating it, and thank you to New Horizons Tasmania for another wonderful Crocodile Dundee Gala and for the incredible work you continue to do within our community.

This one will be proudly displayed for many years to come. 🧡

Two new additions to the adaptCARE fleet! 🖤🧡

We’re excited to welcome two new wheelchair-accessible vans (a 7-seater and wheelchair lift, and a 10-seater with a wheelchair lift) to adaptCARE, another investment in making community access more accessible, practical and inclusive for the people we support.

We understand that transport can be a genuine barrier to community access, particularly for people living in SIL who require wheelchair-accessible transport. Having the right vehicles available can make the difference between simply having support funded and actually being able to get out, participate, connect and live, not just exist.

We also understand something equally important: our staff members’ personal vehicles are exactly that, personal vehicles. While our incredible team do so much every day, we believe the responsibility for providing appropriate transport should not simply fall on them or their cars.

You’ll also notice our vehicles are branded. We know there are different views around branding vehicles within the disability sector, and we respect that. For us, however, the branding isn’t simply about advertising adaptCARE.

It lets the community know that this is a disability support vehicle. Our hope is that when people see us, there might be a little more patience and understanding if we’re travelling a little slower, taking extra time getting someone safely in or out, or needing additional parking space to operate a wheelchair lift and complete a transfer safely and with dignity.

And there’s another benefit to having our name clearly displayed: accountability. When we’re driving an adaptCARE vehicle, we’re visibly representing our organisation and the people we support. It’s a reminder that we need to drive safely, follow the road rules, park responsibly and behave respectfully within our community.

These two new vans aren't just additions to a fleet.

They mean fewer barriers. More access. More independence. More opportunities. More inclusion. 🖤🧡

🧡 R U OK? - TODAY, TOMORROW & EVERY DAY 🧡

Today is R U OK? Day, an important reminder to stop, check in and genuinely ask the people around us:

“Are you OK?”

Yesterday, there was talking within our team about R U OK? Day, one of our team members, Kade, shared his “10 cents worth”, and I think his words are worth sharing:

“Whilst this (R U OK day) is an amazing initiative, we should not need a day to check in with one another. Every day is an opportunity to openly express how we feel and be comfortable speaking to those around us.

R U OK? is 365 days a year and 24/7.

Check in often, and with dignity and empathy. You never know what someone is going through behind closed doors.

And we couldn't agree more. 🧡🖤

R U OK? Day creates awareness and starts conversations, but mental health doesn't follow a calendar.

In our sector, so much of what we do is about caring for, supporting and advocating for others. Sometimes, amongst doing that, we can forget to check in with ourselves and with the people standing beside us.

Mental health doesn't have a particular look.

It can sit behind a smile.
Behind the person making everyone else laugh.
Behind the colleague who always says, “I'm fine.”
Behind the person who is always checking that everyone else is okay.

So today, absolutely ask R U OK?

But ask again tomorrow.

Ask next week.

Ask on an ordinary Tuesday when someone seems a little quieter than usual.

And most importantly, when you ask, take the time to genuinely listen to the answer.

At adaptCARE, we believe inclusion, dignity, empathy and genuine human connection matter every single day.

You don't need to have all the answers. Sometimes being there, listening without judgement, putting the kettle on and giving someone a safe space to talk can mean more than you realise. ☕🧡

R U OK? isn't just today.
It's 365 days a year. 24 hours a day.
Keep checking in. Keep talking. Keep listening.

💙 Happy Father’s Day from all of us at adaptCARE!

Today we celebrate all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster dads, father figures, carers, mentors and special people who provide guidance, encouragement, love and support every day.

Fatherhood comes in many different forms, and today is about recognising those who show up, stand beside us, make us laugh, teach us, support us and help shape the people we become. 🖤🧡

We also acknowledge that Father’s Day can bring many different emotions. For those remembering someone special, navigating loss, or experiencing today a little differently, we’re thinking of you too.

🐊🤠 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT! 🥂✨

What a beautiful evening celebrating 40 years of New Horizons Tasmania at the Crocodile Dundee Gala! 🧡

As New Horizons says so often, inclusion and community are absolutely everything, and last night was such a wonderful reminder of what can happen when people come together with a shared belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, connect, belong and simply enjoy life.

A huge thank you to Alena, Bec, Thomas and Dee for accepting the invitation from the office and joining us (Adam and I) for such a special evening.

And an extra special acknowledgement to our adaptCARE Quiet Achievers, Aran, Vicky, Sandra, Dakota and Kira. 🖤🧡

You were invited because of the contribution you make without necessarily seeking recognition or the spotlight. It was an absolute pleasure to have you there, celebrate alongside you and say thank you for everything you bring to adaptCARE and, most importantly, to the people we support.

The evening raised much-needed funds to help New Horizons continue the incredible work they do across Tasmania, while also giving us plenty of opportunities to laugh, connect, celebrate… and of course, make very good use of the dance floor! 💃🕺😂

Congratulations to everyone at New Horizons Tasmania on 40 years of creating opportunities, breaking down barriers and building a more inclusive Tasmania.

Thank you for an incredible evening, we loved every minute of it. 🧡

🤠 TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT! 🐊✨

Some of the adaptCARE team are dusting off the boots, getting dressed up and getting ready for a fantastic night at the New Horizons Tasmania Crocodile Dundee Gala! 🖤🧡

Tonight is about much more than getting together for a great evening. It’s an opportunity to celebrate 40 incredible years of New Horizons Tasmania and the difference they continue to make through inclusive sport, recreation and community programs for Tasmanians living with disability.

We’re also really proud to be bringing along some of our adaptCARE quiet achievers tonight, members of our team who may not always seek the spotlight, but whose commitment, compassion and contribution make a genuine difference every day. Tonight is a chance to say thank you, celebrate them, and simply enjoy a well-deserved night together. 🧡

The Gala is aiming to raise $75,000, and you don’t have to be attending tonight to get involved!
