🇳🇵 Standing with Nepal and our Nepalese community 🇳🇵

Our thoughts are with the people of Nepal following the devastating flash floods that have caused an unimaginable loss of life, with many people still missing and communities facing enormous destruction.

This tragedy feels particularly close to home for us at adaptCARE. We are incredibly fortunate to have many Nepalese people as part of our workforce and our wider adaptCARE family, and we know that for some, family members, friends and loved ones are back home in Nepal.

To our Nepalese team members and the broader Nepalese community here in Tasmania, we are thinking of you. 🖤🧡

We recognise that watching events unfold from thousands of kilometres away, while waiting for news or worrying about those you love, can be incredibly difficult.

For our employees, please remember that our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services are available to provide confidential support during this difficult time. If you would like to access support, please reach out through the usual EAP channels or speak with our office.

Our deepest condolences go to everyone who has lost family, friends and loved ones, and our thoughts remain with those still waiting for news.

Rescuers searched Himalayan valleys and hillsides on Thursday after a flash flood that killed at least 359 people and left nearly 1,000 missing, as Nepal and China warned of a risk of fresh flooding from water pooling in two lakes.

🎬✨ LIGHTS, CAMERA… DISCO! 🕺💃

Another absolutely fantastic night at our adaptCARE Hollywood Disco! 🌟🎥

Our first disco at the new venue was a great success, with plenty of dancing, laughter, costumes and, most importantly, people coming together and having a great time. 🖤🧡

It’s always wonderful seeing participants, families, support workers and members of our wider community enjoying these nights together. These discos are all about inclusion, connection, having fun and creating a space where everyone belongs.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along tonight, to the support professionals who helped make the night possible, and to everyone behind the scenes who helped with the move to our new venue.

Judging by the dance floor… I think we can safely say the new location got the tick of approval! 😂🕺

Today, we said goodbye to a remarkable gentleman who touched the lives of so many.

For more than Four years, it has been our privilege to walk alongside him and his family through every stage of his journey. We had the opportunity to witness his creativity, celebrate his achievements, and most importantly, ensure he was seen for the person he was and not the diagnosis he lived with.

Only recently, we had the honour of celebrating his beautiful work. It was a powerful reminder that while dementia can change many things, it can never erase a person’s story, their impact, or the legacy they leave behind.

To every member of our team who supported and cared for him over the past four years, thank you. Thank you for your compassion, patience, kindness and unwavering commitment to providing care with dignity. You advocated, encouraged, laughed, comforted, celebrated and stood beside him through every chapter. Together, you demonstrated what person-centred care and active support truly look like.

Support work is so much more than assisting with daily tasks. It is about helping people continue to live meaningful lives, preserving identity, creating opportunities, and ensuring that every person knows they are valued until the very end.

Thank you to the staff at palliative care and community nursing for all your support the past 2 weeks.

To his family and loved ones, our heartfelt condolences are with you during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for allowing us to be part of his journey. It has been an honour we will never forget.

Rest peacefully. Your story, your work, and the lives you touched will continue to inspire us. 🧡

🚐 We’re Looking for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles! ♿

At adaptCARE, we’re always looking for ways to improve the supports we provide and ensure our participants can access their community safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

We’re currently searching for two wheelchair accessible vehicles within Tasmania:
✅ A wheelchair accessible van
✅ A wheelchair accessible vehicle similar to a Kia Carnival with wheelchair access

What a fantastic night at our Super Hero Disco! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️💥

The weather may have tried to spoil the fun, but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, incredible costumes, plenty of dancing, and a room full of laughter.

A huge thank you to everyone who braved the weather to come along and make it such a memorable evening. We love creating inclusive events where everyone can connect, have fun, and simply be themselves.

🧡🖤 What an incredible National Pyjama Day!

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who got involved in our National Pyjama Day fundraiser in support of The Pyjama Foundation.

From pyjamas and onesies to dressing gowns and slippers, our team embraced the day with plenty of laughs, smiles and community spirit. Most importantly, together we raised over $650 to help support children in foster and out-of-home care through mentoring and educational opportunities. 🖤

Every donation, every photo and every person who took part helped make a genuine difference, and we’re incredibly proud of what we achieved together.
