The role of MLD in post surgical recovery 👩‍⚕️

If you have time, this is article explains in detail how manual lymphatic drainage is highly beneficial as part of recovery post surgery. (And any surgery, not just cosmetic)

In a nutshell the benefits are:
- reduce post op inflammation and swelling - if swelling persists, this can lead to the formation of fibrosis (collagen lumps under the skin)
- reduce pain levels by lowering the sympathetic nervous system 💆🏼‍♀️ (improving the bodys own healing process)
-improve the appearance and mobility of scar tissue.
- help the reformation of lymphatic vessels that were damaged during surgery, therefore reducing the risk of developing secondary lymphoedema on the future. (Have seen numerous cases of lymphoedema developing years after knee replacement surgery)

For health professionals in the aesthetic and plastic surgery space, achieving optimal client satisfaction involves a comprehensive, evidence-based post-operative recovery plan. While transient swelling is a usual and expected consequence of body-altering procedures, the management of early post-ope...

I can’t believe we are already half way through the year! It’s probably a good time to introduce myself properly.
Hi I’m Angela 👋, I’m a registered nurse, and over the past 11 years, many of you would have seen me floating around the Loxton Health Centre. (And still do)

I have always enjoyed my role working in primary and preventative health, but I decided that I was ready to add to my skillset and learn something new. so in 2025 I went to Adelaide and undertook the Dr Vodder manual lymphatic drainage training to treat acute and chronic swelling, pain and inflammatory conditions.

Whilst I am not able to treat people with lymphoedema due to a damaged lymphatic system (yet 😉), there are many other conditions I can treat. So far some of the treatments I have provided include:

Sinusitis or general sinus congestion
Tinnitus / Menieres disease
Arthritis pain and swelling
Disk prolapse
Fibromyalgia
IBS
Leg swelling/ lymphoedema
Chronic inflammation
General wellness and relaxation
Hard to heal wounds
Swelling post bone fracture
Pre Post surgical work up and recovery

I have a few appointments available next week so if you have been thinking about a treatment get in touch via sms, email or click the link in my ‘about’ to book an appointment ☺️

We are starting to see more evidence for the benefit of manual lymphatic drainage on brain health

We are living through a quiet but devastating surge in neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders. Traumatic brain injuries also disrupt thousands of lives, leaving those affected, and their families, to grapple with the acute and chronic consequences including persistent cerebral oedema. Sup...

Are you or someone you know scheduled for joint replacement surgery in the near future? Regular lymphatic treatments prior to the operation can optimise your body's preparation for surgery, while post-operative sessions can facilitate recovery, reduce swelling, and promote rejuvenation of damaged lymphatic vessels, ultimately leading to improved outcomes.

Excited to now offer neuromuscular taping to my clients. NMT improves
lymphatic flow, microcirculation, reduces inflammation, and supports tissue repair post injury/ surgery. This service is most powerful combined with manual lymphatic drainage, however can be applied as a stand alone service.

Wondering about my training? Last year I undertook training in level 1 and 2 of the Dr Vodder technique of manual lymph drainage and in January I spent some time with the wonderful Steph Butson before commencing my clinic in February in Loxton.

And next week I am back to Adelaide for further training. Stay tuned!

Our last class for 2025 ended with 100% pass rate after an intensive 9-days of learning 🎓🥇🥳
