💛 This R U OK? Day, we encourage everyone to remember the power of a simple check-in. You don’t need to have all the answers, just being there, listening with kindness, and asking “R U OK?” can make a real difference. Take a moment today, or any day, to reach out to someone in your life. A conversation could be just what they need. 💛

On World Physiotherapy Day, we’re taking a moment to celebrate and thank our wonderful Physiotherapy team for the amazing work they do every day!

The team each show such care and professionalism to their clients, and they are also fabulous colleagues who are supportive, thoughtful and lots of fun!

Physiotherapists support clients in many practical ways, including:

• Strategies for mobility, balance, and reducing fall risk to support maximum independence with daily living activities and safety at home and in community

• Strategies to support participation in or return to hobbies, sports, work and social groups

• Assistive technology prescription, such as gait aids, to maximise independence with mobility and daily activities

• Implementing strategies for health promotion to reduce the risk of a secondary event

Thank you to our Physiotherapy team for the kindness, skill and energy you bring to supporting your clients, their families and carers. We appreciate everything you do!

I wear many hats, but the one I'm most proud of is Dad. While the role of CEO keeps me busy, my favourite moments are the ones spent with my boys. Grateful for every moment we share. Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures out there!

New NDIS laws are now in place, so it is important to understand what has changed. This NDIS video explains who can ask for a plan reassessment and what steps they need to take. We encourage NDIS participants to watch the videos on NDIS social media or visit the NDIS website to learn more about these changes.

On Wednesday 2 September we celebrate all early childhood educators!

Across the Central Highlands Region, Pinarc’s Pre-School Field Officers and Kindergarten Inclusion Support team provide vital support to kindergartens and early childhood education centres to help them provide an inclusive and welcoming learning environment.

At Pinarc we recognise the importance of a safe and inclusive early childhood education for every child, and the skills, expertise and empathy brought by the professional educators in the sector.

Pictured: A group of our Kindergarten Additional Assistants attended a professional development day earlier this year to learn, collaborate, and build skills to better support young people participate in and enjoy their early learning environment.

During Speech Pathology Week it is timely to share one of the learning activities our Speech Pathologists have recently participates in.

Some of our Melton-based Speech Pathologists - Larissa, Sarah, Kelly & Baljit - recently attended an Aboriginal Cultural Information Session hosted by Moorabool Shire Council with guest speakers from BADAC , Babaneek Booboop and Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Inc.

Participants gathered in a yarning circle and learned together what is and what is not appropriate when making an early years organisation culturally safe and welcoming. The speakers patiently answered questions on many topics, saying that they welcomed all questions as every question is an opportunity to learn a different lesson.

Our team came back with a deeper understanding about how to best embed Aboriginal Culture into our everyday practice, and some wonderful resources and an art work for display at our Melton clinic.

NDIS Reform Update

The Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill passed the Senate (19 Aug) and will now introduce significant changes to the NDIS, impacting Social and Community Participation budgets. At this stage, there are no immediate changes to the services provided by Pinarc. The final Bill was amended to include additional protections for complex support needs and measures that may help safeguard critical support arrangements. However, the full details of how these changes will be implemented are not yet available.

At Pinarc, we remain active, reviewing the reforms, closely monitoring developments, and will keep our customers, families and carers informed as more information becomes available.

We understand this news may raise questions. If you have concerns or would like to discuss what these changes may mean for you, please reach out to us. We're here to listen, support and help navigate any changes ahead.

For now, it's business as usual, and we'll continue to navigate these changes together.

Further information is available on the NDIS website: https://www.ndis.gov.au/ndis-laws/securing-ndis-future-generations?utm_source=sfmc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20260820_NDIS_Newsletter&utm_content=textlink_onourwebsite

At our Lucas Clinic we have updated one of our therapy rooms to include the option of sensory lights. Having these options means that we can support our clients in different environments that meet their needs. Our therapy assistant Cita enjoyed checking them out!
