One of the questions I get asked is
“How, does distance reiki actually work, if I’m not there with you?”

And I get it. If you’ve only ever experienced Reiki lying on a table with a practitioner in the room, the idea of receiving it from your own home can seem a little weird.

But a distance Reiki session actually runs very similarly to an in-person session.

We connect on Zoom first and have a chat about what’s going on for you, where you’re at and anything that might be coming up.
Then you get yourself comfortable somewhere quiet your bed, the couch, out in nature, wherever feels good to you . You lie down, close your eyes and settle in. There’s no need to stay looking at the screen, you just need to be able to hear me.

From my end, I use the Reiki symbols, including the distance symbol, this allows the reiki energy to travel through time and space to establish the energetic connection. I then move through the Reiki session much as I would if you were lying on the table here with me.

When I’m finished, I gently bring you back to your space. We have a chat about the session, what I noticed and anything you may have experienced, just as we would if you were here in person.

The lovely part about distance Reiki is that you’re already in your own space.

There’s no travelling, you can get completely comfortable, and when we finish and you’re feeling all relaxed and floaty, there’s no getting back in the car and driving home. You can simply stay where you are.

It also gives more flexibility with appointment times, including some evenings, so you can even have your session, stay cosy and head off to bed afterwards.

It’s simply another beautiful way to receive, maybe this is something you didn’t even realise was an option.

So you don’t need to be here on Kangaroo Island to have a Reiki session with me. I’ve worked with people interstate and even overseas, distance Reiki means you can be pretty much anywhere in the world and still receive a session.
So if you’ve been thinking you’d like to experience one of my Reiki sessions, just know they aren’t limited by your location.

Distance Reiki means we can work together wherever you happen to be.

My preparations begin long before you step into the space. ✨

I love teaching Reiki, but I also love everything that happens before you arrive.

I spend time connecting with the energy of the person or people joining me and allowing the training to build from there.

I forage for flowers and plants for the altar, choosing pieces for their meaning and intention. And as the space comes together, the goddesses who want to sit with us also come forward.

Teas are hand-blended, nourishing food is prepared, and all the little details are brought together so that when you arrive, everything is taken care of.

You simply get to turn up and be held in the experience. 🤍

After this weekend’s private training, my student said:

“I loved the tent. Such a beautiful container. I felt so held in the space and in nature.”

And that’s what I want for the people who train with me, to feel held and supported throughout the whole experience.

My Reiki trainings are intentionally small, either privately one-to-one or in small groups of up to four.

If you’ve been feeling the pull to learn Reiki, feel free to reach out and have a chat with me about a training.

Offering Level 1, Level 2, Level 3(Masters)✨

There’s a lot moving in my inner world at the moment.

Things coming up. Things I’m seeing differently. Things ready to be released and let go.

And I’m very conscious right now of the need to stay grounded and find my centre. Because when I’m centred, I have more capacity to be with what’s actually happening without letting it pull me into a downward spiral.

So on my walk today

I stopped, closed my eyes and tuned in to
My breath.
The birds.
The sound of the wind moving through the trees.
The feeling of the wind on my face.
The smell of the trees around me
And I just stood there
and then they came all the feelings
Frustration
Anger
Disappointment
Self Doubt
I just stood and met myself there, knowing it’s all going to be ok. Im going to be ok.

Finding your centre doesn’t automatically mean you’ll suddenly feel better but it does help you to become steady enough to feel what you actually feel.

To let the frustration be frustration.
To let disappointment be disappointment.
To have compassion for yourself in the middle of it.

Life has wobbles.

The work isn’t about never wobbling. It’s about building the capacity to wobble without falling off the bike. To notice when you’re being pulled away from yourself and to know how to come back.

For me this morning, it was incredibly simple.

I walked.
I breathed.
I listened.
I felt
I noticed
I let my senses bring me into the moment.

And I let myself feel.

I just needed a little space around what I was feeling to see it for what it was, rather than become consumed by it.

That’s what these practices have given me over the years.

Capacity.

Not immunity from hard days, frustration, disappointment or the messiness of being human. But the capacity to stay with myself through them.

Remember to find your centre.

I just caught myself in a pattern in real time.

It’s nearly 1pm and suddenly I realise gee, I’m hungry.

Without another thought, I walk to the freezer, grab my chocolate-covered blueberries and start eating them. 🤤

Instant gratification.

And then the inner critic kicked in

“F**k sake Jane why can’t you just stop eating sugary s**t and go make yourself a healthy lunch?”

Now not so long ago I would’ve felt bad about myself
and kept right on eating them anyway.

But today I questioned it.

Why did I choose these?

And off down the rabbit hole I went. 😂

I hadn’t eaten breakfast and I was bloody hungry.
These were sweet, easy, right there and giving me something now without having to stop what I was doing.

The blueberries weren’t actually the problem. I was, I’d abandoned myself again by simply neglecting a very basic bodily need, feeding myself. I’d overridden it because I was busy doing something else.
Until eventually that whisper became a

FEED ME. NOW. 😈

And of course my brain wanted something Fast, easy. available and rewarding.

Difference was this time I noticed I interrupted the pattern.

Not through some magical burst of willpower I simply stopped and questioned why.

And that tiny moment of awareness created a pause.

In that pause, I had a choice. What I actually needed was nourishing food.

So I put the blueberries back in the freezer and made myself lunch not because the blueberries were bad but because I could see the bigger picture and understood what I actually needed.

And this is such a huge part of what I’m creating within The Rising, Awaken the Truth Within.

Learning to notice your patterns.
Getting curious about why you do what you do.
Interrupting the autopilot long enough to create choice.

Because you can’t interrupt a pattern you don’t know you’re in.

So maybe today, instead of judging something you automatically do, ask:
Why am I doing this?
What am I actually needing?

The first change is noticing.

Awareness creates the pause and the pause gives us choice.

And sometimes returning to yourself looks a lot less like some profound moment and a lot more like realising at 1pm that you should have eaten bloody breakfast. 😂

Today felt I needed a reset.

So I listened.

I cleaned, I opened the windows, moved through the house, cleared the energy.

Then this song came on.

This song The Wave by Keith Urban dropped in one day as I was walking the beach pondering where my life was taking me.

Way back at the beginning of my journey of consciously choosing myself and trusting in myself and wondering what if I stopped living by everyone else’s rules and expectations and started listening to my own inner knowing.

Back then, the song felt like an invitation.
A nudge to follow my own path, to ride my own wave.

Today, it landed very differently in my body

Today it wasn’t asking me to trust the journey.

It was a celebration of how far I’ve come and to continue to ride my own glorious wave.

As Keith Urban so beautifully said it

Why would I wanna live any other way 💫
