Did you know that 4 in 5 Australians will experience back pain at some point in their lives?

For many people, back pain is more than just a physical problem. It can make everyday activities harder, affect sleep, reduce participation in work, exercise and hobbies, and contribute to feelings of stress, frustration and fatigue.

At My Chiropractor Mackay, we see first hand how ongoing back pain can impact overall wellbeing. When you're not moving well or feeling your best, it can affect many aspects of daily life. That's why we believe looking after your spinal health is an important part of looking after your overall health.

The good news is that there are positive steps you can take. Staying active, seeking appropriate advice and addressing concerns early may help you maintain your mobility, independence and quality of life.

This Spinal Health Month, we're proud to support the national conversation around the connection between back pain and mental wellbeing.

If you're experiencing back pain, neck pain, headaches, disc-related issues or nerve pain, our team is here to answer your questions and help you understand your options.

As we age, looking after our spinal health becomes more important than ever.

Many older Australians experience back pain, and when pain persists, it can affect much more than just mobility. Ongoing back pain may impact sleep, daily activities, independence, social connections and overall quality of life.

At My Chiropractor Mackay, we regularly see how spinal health can influence both physical and mental wellbeing. The good news is that there are steps you can take to stay active, maintain your independence and keep doing the things you enjoy.

This Spinal Health Month, we're encouraging our community to prioritise their spinal health and not simply accept back pain as a normal part of getting older.

If back pain is holding you back, our team is here to help assess your situation and discuss appropriate care options.

Cost-of-living pressures are impacting more than household budgets – they’re affecting Australians’ health.

As Australians continue to navigate rising living costs, many are making difficult decisions about where to cut back. Unfortunately, healthcare is increasingly one of them.

New data from the 2026 Australian Spinal Health Survey found that 44.3% of Australians living with back pain have delayed or avoided seeking professional care because of cost concerns. Over the past two years, consultations for back pain have declined across several healthcare professions.

At the same time, over-the-counter pain medication use has increased to 85% of back pain sufferers, suggesting many Australians are managing symptoms while delaying or avoiding professional care.

At My Chiropractor Mackay, we understand the pressure many families are under right now. We also see the impact that delaying care can have. What may begin as occasional discomfort can progress to ongoing pain that affects sleep, mobility, work, family life and mental wellbeing.

Back pain doesn’t just impact the body. It can contribute to increased stress, fatigue and reduced quality of life.

While we know finances can be stretched, seeking advice early may help prevent minor issues from becoming more persistent and difficult to manage. If you’re experiencing back pain or have questions about your spinal health, our team is here to help you understand your options and support you in making informed decisions about your care.

This Spinal Health Month, we’re encouraging our Mackay community to prioritise their spinal health and access the free evidence-based resources available through the Australian Chiropractors Association.

Whether you're working in the mines, on the tools, behind the wheel, in the office or running after the kids, the physical demands of daily life can place ongoing strain on your spine.

Repetitive movements, heavy lifting, pushing, pulling and long hours on your feet can all contribute to back pain. But the impact doesn't stop there. Persistent pain can affect your mood, energy levels, sleep and overall mental wellbeing.

For many men, back pain becomes just another thing to push through while juggling work pressures, financial responsibilities and family commitments. Over time, that extra mental load can take its toll.

The good news? Early intervention matters. Addressing back pain before it becomes a chronic problem may help you stay active, keep doing the things you love and support both your physical and mental health.

This Spinal Health Month, don't ignore the signs your body is giving you.

If you have questions about your back pain or would like to find out whether chiropractic care could help, contact the team at My Chiropractor. We're here to help you move better, feel better and get back to feeling like yourself. You can call us on 07 4953 1622 or book online
