Regular ovulation is how women make the hormones estradiol and progesterone, which are important for general health, not just for making a baby.

By suppressing ovulation, most hormonal birth control switches off those hormones and does NOT replace them.

🌈 EAT THE RAINBOW: Nutrition Meets Ancient Wisdom

Ever notice how the most nourishing bowls just *happen* to look like a rainbow? That's not a coincidence β€” it's wisdom thousands of years in the making.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each color is linked to a specific organ system and element:

🟒 GREEN (Wood) β†’ Liver β€” leafy greens like kale and spinach support detoxification and the smooth flow of qi
πŸ”΄ RED (Fire) β†’ Heart β€” tomatoes and berries are said to nourish blood and calm the spirit
🟑 YELLOW/ORANGE (Earth) β†’ Spleen & Stomach β€” sweet potatoes and squash support digestion and steady energy
βšͺ WHITE (Metal) β†’ Lungs β€” foods like sesame seeds and mushrooms support respiratory health and immunity
⚫ BLACK/DARK (Water) β†’ Kidneys β€” black sesame, mushrooms, and dark beans are prized for supporting vitality and longevity

Modern nutrition backs this up too β€” different colored plant pigments (phytonutrients like beta-carotene, anthocyanins, and chlorophyll) each bring their own antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. So when you build a colorful bowl, you're not just eating beautifully β€” you're covering your nutritional bases AND supporting balance across your whole body, inside and out.

✨ Next time you build a bowl, try this: instead of asking "is this healthy?", ask "how many colors am I eating today?" A full-spectrum plate is one of the simplest ways to nourish body, mind, and qi all at once.

When you come for a treatment and I do weird stuff.

Moxa (short for moxibustion) is a traditional Chinese medicine technique where dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is burned near or on the skin, usually close to specific acupuncture points. It comes in different forms β€” sticks, cones, or attached to acupuncture needles β€” and the practitioner holds it near the skin to warm the area without burning it.

Why it shows up in fertility treatment:

Encouraging fetal positioning: The most researched use is moxa on the acupoint "Bladder 67" (outer edge of the pinky toe) to help turn breech babies, typically done around 34 weeks.

Warming the uterus / improving blood flow: In TCM theory, moxa is used to add "warmth" to areas seen as cold or deficient, which practitioners believe supports blood flow to the uterus and ovaries β€” relevant for people trying to conceive or undergoing IVF.

Supporting ovulation and menstrual regularity: Some acupuncturists use moxa alongside acupuncture on points thought to regulate the menstrual cycle.

Post-embryo-transfer support: Some fertility acupuncturists use moxa in the two-week wait, based on the idea that "warming" the lower abdomen supports implantation.

If you would like to experience the world of Moxa get in touch and we can chat.
