I seem to be good at putting pressure on myself to find a ritual or routine and stick to it…. 🤦🏻♀️
And on reflection I believe this comes from watching my Italian great grandmother have her daily routine day in and day out, and never changing it. As I observed that growing up I believed that to live a long life (she lived until she was about 96), you must do the same thing every day. And I can see the benefits…
Yet I keep dropping off or changing it, and I realised today that’s okay!
So, today the sun is shining. It’s Sunday and I have a day home and I started the morning quietly in bed with my Kriya practice (thanks to The Reconnected | Home of Reconnected Parenting ) and then a Nutritious Movement class that I do online with the wonderful Katy Bowman Katy Bowman and then I skin brushed before my shower.
I oiled my scalp and massaged the top of my head (so many sore spots!).
I ate my 2 spoonfuls of black sesame seed and date paste 🤤and made myself a decaf coffee with cardamom (I don’t drink coffee much).
Sat out in the sunshine with the kitten, setting my intention for today and my week ahead.
This feels so peaceful and good and I realised I don’t have to do this every single day. I can to do it on a Sunday or days I have a slow morning.
If you’re a busy mama, there are a little steps you can take for self care too and I highly recommend getting out into the morning sunshine for at least five 5, 10 or 15 minutes - it’s a great start to your day!
