Here we are in Brisbane to sleep in our car to bring awareness and raise funds for ‘The Forgotten Women’.

Over 40,000 women over 55 are homeless in Queensland alone.

Maple Street Streetscaping Update

Maleny Commerce is aware of the disruption the current Maple Street streetscaping works are causing for our local businesses, particularly with reduced parking and access affecting trade.

We understand this is a difficult period for traders and want our members to know that we are actively looking at what can be done to help minimise the impact and support businesses while the works continue.

In the meantime, we encourage everyone to keep supporting our wonderful Maple Street businesses — they’re open and would love to see you!

We’ll share further updates as more information becomes available.

Please support our local businesses or we risk losing them. There are enough empty commercial properties in Maleny without losing more.

APPRECIATION AND A PLEA
We, and I'm sure other businesses in town, have had a massive downturn in sales since the streetscaping expanded. The ripple effect of which is causing so much financial and mental stress. Just when I was thinking the worst, a gentleman working on the streetscaping crew stopped me and gave me this sweet little necklace. It lifted my heart and gave me a glimmer of hope.
Please, if ever there was a time to support local businesses, make it now. We all need you so that at the end of this streetscaping project, when Maleny will look beautiful, it will not be full of empty shops.
Keep Maleny alive and thriving!

As a team we are taking on the Live Like Her Challenge 2026 to help more homeless women over 55 into a home. For one night, we will be sleeping in a car, to raise awareness and funds for The Forgotten Women project, an initiative which is close to our hearts.
