How are you spending these chilly winter evenings? 💛

There’s no better way to spend the evening than rugged up indoors with the warm glow of our candles. Inspired by evenings in the Australian bush, our Hinterland Campfire Candle captures the feeling of a fire burning low, cool resinous air, and the day quietly settling around you. Hand-poured using pure beeswax from our hives, it’s the ideal companion for slow winter nights at home.

🔥 Burn time: 30+ hours

Today is World Bee Day.

A day to pause and recognise the quiet, essential work bees do in our environment, our food system and the ecosystems around us.

Here in Australia, it is an especially difficult time for honey bees and beekeepers. The arrival of Varroa mite has created one of the biggest challenges the Australian beekeeping industry has ever faced. Varroa weakens honey bee colonies and can spread viruses, leading to serious colony losses if it is not managed carefully. Australia has now shifted from trying to eradicate Varroa to learning how to manage it long term.

Behind every jar of Australian honey are beekeepers working hard to keep their bees alive, healthy and moving through a changing landscape. Many are facing rising treatment costs, hive losses, tough seasons and the pressure of keeping pollination services going for fruit, nuts, vegetables and seed crops. Honey bees help pollinate around a third of Australia’s food crops, so this affects much more than honey.

So today, we’re simply saying thank you.

To the bees.
To the beekeepers.
And to the small, often unseen work that keeps so much of the natural world moving.

If you see a bee today, give her a little nod of thanks.

Happy World Bee Day 🐝
