This is an excellent article highlighting the importance of economic nationalism.

Indonesia has banned the export of unprocessed nickel ore and forced companies to invest in domestic processing.

Indonesias focus on manufacturing its own raw materials has seen its economy boom.

Australia used to process its own raw materials. A good example of this was when the Queensland government refused to allow bauxite to be exported and instead insisted that it be processed at Gladstone, or the steel factories owned by BHP.

As a result of neoliberal ideology adopted by all major parties, our politicians allowed value added processing and our untapped wealth to go offshore.

People First is the only party that will have reservation policies on Iron Ore, Coal, Gas and Bauxite.

And to facilitate the efficient processing of raw materials we will build more base-load power stations to provide cheap energy and abolish payroll tax to lower employment costs.

It’s absurd given our vast natural resources that politicians and billionaires are allowed to exploit our wealth. It has to stop.

No major party including One Nation has a plan to stop this.

This is economic nationalism in its practical form. Why dig something out of the ground, ship it overseas, allow someone else to manufacture the valuable product, and then import that product back at a massive markup? Indonesia wants the factories, processing plants, employment, technology, and capital investment to remain inside Indonesia. The West may complain about these policies when they interfere with its own corporations, but Indonesia is acting in its own national interest.”

The political landscape in Australia is changing. There is no question about that. Some call it the rise of ‘Populism’. Others prefer to frame it as a return to common sense.

Public sentiment is changing because Australians are fed up with years of lies and bad governance.

They are demanding that government do a better job and stop wasting money.

Specific demands to restore Australia - taxes, migration, regulation - have been laid out in the public forum. Public demand is not a mystery to solve. It’s a list titled, ‘Fix these things!’ handed to politicians.

The Labor-Liberal uniparty are simply not listening.

Or if they are listening, they are choosing to ignore the public.
