How cute are all those kids running around, flipping, rolling and tumbling their bodies and generally having a great time being active. We can wait to have a purpose-built facility where the equipment can remain set up to welcome all the lovers of judo and gymnastics without the additional hours needed from volunteers and coaches to set up.

MALLACOOTA CARES AGEING AT HOME
🫶 We are a not-for-profit community organisation that provides local care coordination of Support at Home Packages to residents in Mallacoota, Gipsy Point, and Genoa.
🏡 We aim to employ locals and use local businesses to provide the support for our community whether they are living in town or on one of the many surrounding rural properties.
🙂 As care coordinators, we have partnered with Trilogy Care as the Support at Home Package provider. Mallacoota Cares is built by a team of locals dedicated in providing easily-accessible home care supports.

Introducing Healthcare Projects Australia 👋
It has been quite a journey to get to this point of the Mallacoota Wellbeing Centre project, and we couldn’t have done it without the dedicated team from Healthcare Projects Australia 🫶 HCPA is a collaborative team of Architects 📐 Designers 🖌 Engineers 👷 Project Managers 📋 and Consultants 🛠 who have delivered a range of successfully designed and built healthcare projects throughout Australia including the Mallacoota Medical Centre in 2019 🏥

When we first reconnected with HCPA the Mallacoota Wellbeing Centre was nothing more than a dream 💭 With their help we drafted the first concept plans, identified what was possible, and when the Play Our Way Program opened HCPA worked with us to design the facility and gather all the information needed for an application 📨 Then along with the committee, we all crossed their fingers 🤞 for a successful outcome. CHIRF were notified our application was successful 🎉 in late 2024 and that’s when the real work began! The team now meet fortnightly with HCPA as we move through the process which we are happy to report has already received planning approval and is progressing towards the building permit stage.

Happy Volunteer Week to all those who give their time and energy to our community 🙌
It was nice to see a few of our very own volunteers receiving some well earned recognition for their contributions on this years East Gippsland Volunteer Honour Roll 🙏

🌟💙 Let’s celebrate the incredible people who give so much to East Gippsland this National Volunteers Week.

The East Gippsland Honour Roll shines a light on the remarkable volunteers who make our communities thrive. From emergency services and conservation to sport, arts, aged care, youth programs and community leadership, the diversity of volunteering across our region is nothing short of inspiring.

Across East Gippsland – from Mallacoota to Orbost, W Tree, Lakes Entrance, Bairnsdale, Paynesville and beyond – volunteers are showing up, stepping in and making a real difference. Every name on the Honour Roll represents a story of generosity, commitment and community spirit.

Q – What is the Mallacoota Wellbeing Centre?
A - A community-owned health, sport and wellbeing facility that is modern, safe and inclusive which will support the Mallacoota District to live well.

Q – Where is it being built?
A – At 21-23 Maurice Ave alongside the Mallacoota Medical Centre creating a central hub for health and wellbeing.

Q – When will the project start?
A – Funding through the Australian Government’s Play Our Way program was secured in late 2024. Demolition of the ‘old medical centre’ commenced in March 2026 with construction on the Wellbeing Centre due to begin in July 2026

Q – Who is building it?
A – CHIRF have again partnered with MIAC to build the Mallacoota Wellbeing Centre on the land owned by the community. Together they have engaged Health Care Projects Australia (HCPA) a collaborative team of Architects, Designers, Engineers, Project Managers and Consultants who have delivered a range of successfully designed and built healthcare projects throughout Australia including the Mallacoota Medical Centre in 2019.

Q – When will it be finished?
A – The project is scheduled to be completed in September 2027
