What if your body doesn’t always need more stretching? 💭
As a Remedial Massage Therapist, I often talk to clients about the importance of movement and recovery — but recently, I was reminded of this through my own experience.
I’ve had an ongoing niggle around my left shoulder blade and rhomboid area for quite some time. I tried stretching, yoga, Pilates and massage, but it always seemed to come back.
Recently, I started doing more strength training, including RIP at Fernwood, and something surprised me — building strength didn’t aggravate it the way I expected.
Combined with regular massage and proper recovery, I’ve noticed a huge improvement, and I barely notice that old discomfort now. 🙌🏼
It was a great reminder that looking after our bodies isn’t always about stretching more.
Sometimes it’s about finding the right balance of strength, movement, recovery and hands-on treatment. ❤️
Whether you’re training at the gym, working at a desk, chasing little ones around, or simply dealing with that one stubborn area that never seems to settle — your body may benefit from looking at the bigger picture.
That’s one of the things I love about remedial massage: working with the body, not just chasing the sore spot.
If you’ve been dealing with ongoing tightness or discomfort, feel free to get in touch and we can chat about what might be appropriate for you. 💆🏻♀️
