New at South Steyne Medical Centre: Healthy Gut & Lifestyle Checks

If you’ve been dealing with ongoing bloating, constipation, IBS-type symptoms or general gut discomfort, South Steyne Medical Centre is now offering a dedicated Healthy Gut & Lifestyle Check.

This is a 30-minute appointment designed to give patients time to properly discuss their symptoms, lifestyle factors and next steps with a GP.

The appointment may be suitable for people experiencing:

• Ongoing bloating
• Constipation
• IBS-type symptoms
• Gut discomfort that keeps coming back
• Concerns about diet, digestion or gut health

The fee is $190 upfront. Eligible patients may receive a Medicare rebate, with an approximate out-of-pocket cost of around $100, depending on Medicare eligibility and the consultation item number billed.

This month is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

Bowel Cancer is unfortunately an increasingly common disease in Australia especially amongst younger Australians.

But if caught early it is also of the most treatable cancers. Check out for more info.

As part of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month we are super excited to be supporting a short film about local Northern Beaches resident Chris Clarke. The film follows Chris as he trains for and runs a marathon whilst going through chemotherapy.

A big thank you to the for asking us if we’d like to get involved as well.

Community is a huge part of health and it is a privilege to be able to support this event. There is going to be a screening of the film on the 18th of June - hopefully we see you there!

And don’t forget there are multiple options for receiving free bowel cancer screening kits for those aged 45 - 74.

📢 King's Birthday Public Holiday Closure

Maak kennis met dr. Leonie Janssen

Dr. Leonie Janssen studeerde geneeskunde aan de Universiteit Leiden in Nederland en rondde in 2018 haar opleiding tot huisarts af. In 2023 verhuisde zij naar Australië.

Zij zet zich met passie in voor uitgebreide eerstelijnszorg voor patiënten van alle leeftijden en heeft interesse in alle aspecten van de huisartsgeneeskunde.

Dr. Janssen staat bekend om haar warme, betrokken en gezinsgerichte benadering van patiëntenzorg. Ze hecht veel waarde aan het opbouwen van langdurige relaties met haar patiënten en de lokale gemeenschap.

Buiten haar werk brengt Leonie graag tijd door met haar twee jonge kinderen, ontdekt ze graag de Australische natuur en houdt ze van zwemmen.
