Skipping meals won't boost your metabolism, it does the opposite. When you go too long without eating, your body reads it as a signal to conserve energy, not burn through it.

Instead of speeding things up, skipping meals can actually slow your metabolism down, which is exactly the opposite of what most people are hoping for when they cut meals out. It also tends to backfire later in the day in the form of stronger cravings, energy crashes and overeating once you finally do eat.

This is one of the biggest myths I see, especially in perimenopause, when your body needs consistency more than ever. Regular, balanced meals keep your blood sugar (and your hormones) steady, which is what actually supports a healthy metabolism, not restriction.

If you've been skipping meals to try to lose weight, this is your sign to try the opposite instead. I have a new program that is to help support my metabolic balance clients, more information coming soon!

This is one of my favourite parts of the job, carefully measuring out herbal formulas made specifically for the person they're for. No two blends are ever quite the same, because no two bodies are ever quite the same. What works beautifully for one woman's hormones, gut, or energy won't necessarily be right for someone else and that's exactly the point.

It's slow, hands-on work and I genuinely love it. There's something grounding about taking the time to get it right, drop by drop, rather than reaching for a one-size-fits-all answer.

Just a little glimpse into what happens behind the consults!

This is one of the simplest shifts in Metabolic Balance and one of the ones that makes the biggest difference. It's not about eating more, it's about eating in the right order. A palm of protein at breakfast (eggs, Greek yoghurt, leftover chicken, whatever works for your morning) can genuinely change how the rest of your day feels.

Keep an eye out for my new program coming soon!

Little changes can help support us throughout the perimenopause transition. Strength training a couple of times a week helps protect muscle, which matters more than ever as your hormones shift. Building balanced plates, getting enough fibre, and not being afraid of healthy fats all work together to keep things steady rather than sending your blood sugar (and your cravings) on a rollercoaster.

The habits that get overlooked matter just as much, staying properly hydrated and managing stress on purpose rather than just pushing through it. Chronic stress keeps cortisol elevated, which can undo a lot of the good work happening elsewhere.

A few consistent habits, most days, will do more for your metabolism than any drastic overhaul ever could.

Save this one for the days you need a reminder of where to start.

It's here! The Perimenopause Reset Program is officially live. I've spent years in clinic sitting across from women who felt like their bodies had become unpredictable overnight, energy disappearing, sleep falling apart, weight shifting no matter what they tried. I wanted to build something that gives you that same support, without needing to be in the room with me.

The Perimenopause Reset is a gentle, self-guided 4-week program built on the same evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle principles I use with my clinic clients. No appointments, no ongoing contact required, just a clear, nurturing structure you can move through in your own time.

Inside, you'll find a guided 2-day cleanse, a modular 2-week meal plan, 32 hormone-supportive recipes, daily wellness and symptom trackers and reflection prompts to help you reconnect with your body along the way.

If you've been feeling like your energy, mood, sleep or weight have shifted and you just want a simple, effective place to start, this is it 🌿 find out more via the link in my bio!

That's a big number and yet hot flashes still dominate how we talk about this stage of life. The global study, led by researchers at Mayo Clinic and surveying over 12,000 women over the age of 35, found something interesting:

When people were asked what they associate with perimenopause, hot flashes, sleep problems and weight gain topped the list but the most commonly experienced symptoms told a different story, fatigue, exhaustion, irritability, low mood and sleep problems were what women actually reported living with day to day.

If exhaustion isn't on your radar as a perimenopause symptom, it's easy to write it off as "just being busy" or "just getting older," instead of recognising it as something hormonal and something you can actually work with.

Fatigue like this is often tied to blood sugar swings, cortisol, and disrupted sleep, all things that respond well to the right nutrition and daily structure, not just powering through with more coffee.

If you're ready for more structure than a single post can give you, the Perimenopause Reset is now available, a gentle, self-paced 4-week program to help you feel clearer, calmer, and more energised. Reach out to get started!

It's showing up everywhere again, those tiny "what I eat in a day" videos, apps pushing numbers that wouldn't fuel a toddler, let alone an adult woman navigating hormonal changes. Under-eating like this doesn't work with your body, it works against it, slowing your metabolism, disrupting your hormones and making results harder to keep, not easier.

This is exactly why Metabolic Balance never starts with a calorie count. Instead of asking "how little can I eat," it's built around properly balanced meals, the right protein, the right fats, the right vegetables, eaten at the right times for your body. It's not about restriction, it's about giving your metabolism what it actually needs to function well, so the results last instead of unravelling the second life gets busy.

If something in the wellness space is asking you to eat less and less to see results, that's usually a sign it's not sustainable, not a sign you're finally "doing it right." Real, lasting change comes from working with your metabolism, not starving it into submission. The whole eat less move more narrative needs to stop!

Six months ago this conversation looked completely different. Now it feels like everyone either knows someone on a GLP-1 or has thought about it themselves and for a lot of women, it's genuinely helped. Less noise, less cravings, more space to think about something other than food.

What doesn't get talked about enough is what happens underneath. The medication can quiet things down, but it can't rebuild your gut, your hormones, your muscle or your nervous system and that's the part that decides whether your results actually last. That's where the real work is, whether you're on a GLP-1, thinking about it or figuring out what comes after it.

Managing lipedema often requires support from multiple angles because it’s about far more than just body weight alone.

Small daily habits can make a meaningful difference in supporting inflammation, lymphatic flow, circulation, nervous system regulation and overall wellbeing over time 🌿

Gentle movement, hydration, anti-inflammatory nutrition, compression, lymphatic support and nervous system care can all play an important role in creating a more supportive foundation for the body.

Progress doesn’t have to be extreme to be valuable, consistency and compassionate support matter too
