When we feel anxious we often just want the feeling to go away. We try to get rid of it, calm it, talk ourselves out of it or numb it.

But there’s often something magical that happens when we learn to be WITH the sensation for long enough to discern what it’s communicating.

‘Anxiety’ is a broad brush term that we use to describe a vast amount of experiences nowadays. So it’s not just a matter of saying “I’m feeling anxious, so it means ‘x’ or ‘y’” We have to learn to listen and move TOWARD ourselves and the feeling in a different way.

When we do this we cultivate self-awareness, self-compassion and a deeper understanding of our needs and values. Not just in a theoretical way, but in a very real, embodied way.

As we learn to relate to ourselves in a different way we often discover a greater sense of aliveness, connectedness and freedom. … And it’s one of the reasons I love somatic therapy and working with the body so much. The wisdom in each of us is beautiful - when we give it time, space and presence to make itself known.

Went for a stroll out my back door on Sunday. And it got me thinking about ‘home’.

I would say it’s one of the richest, most beautiful words we have in our daily parlance.

…But what is ‘home’? Where is ‘home’? What’s it ‘built’ out of? How do we find it? And how do we know it when we do?

For a good 3.5 decades I can’t say I truly felt like I knew what or where home was. Sure, there was my family home and then the home I built with a partner. Comfortable, valued, loved - and yet still I didn’t quite feel HOME.

Both my parents immigrated here. Before that my lineage spanned continents and different peoples. And for as long as I could remember I envisaged travelling and living in other parts of the world - not here. A place I somehow found it hard to settle into. (The niggling sense I didn’t quite ‘fit’).

And yet, I kept coming back. To these hills. To this ancient, rolling earth.

Fast forward to today and it’s hard for me to even describe the magnitude of love and gratitude I feel for this place (NE Vic). These mountains, rivers and hills.

In the end, I think ‘home’ is the place that brings you back to reality. No hiding. Just the beauty of simplicity. The integrity of consistency - and the growth that arises there.

Whether I always stay here, I have no idea. But I do have a hope that all people have a place they can return to, that welcomes them - long enough for them to settle into their own skin. To untie the stories that kept them disconnected from the beauty of their own breath and flesh… And the life around them.

As for where home is? It’s in your bones and your breath. In the wind that whispers across your skin and the birds that sing you awake each day.

Cliché? Probably.
But I’m ok with that. ❤️

Simple things that create change.

When was the last time you REALLY took in the sunrise or the sunset? …Listened to the birds in the morning? …Felt the sun on your skin? …Walked barefoot on the grass? …Or just lay on the grass? (Hopefully it happened today!!!)

Consciously choosing to pause in your day and become present WILL cause a shift in your nervous system.

We often over-complicate what it takes to feel different. But it can be quite simple.

When we take in what is good and safe NOW, it’s very hard for the alarm bells in our brain to remain on at the same level.

But taking in goodness and registering safety is actually something that you might need to consciously train.

If your nervous system has become accustomed to staying on high alert and constantly scanning for threat it will take conscious, directed thought and focus to do otherwise.

But like anything, when we practice it becomes easier … Until the day it becomes innate.

You have more control over your nervous system and your state than you might first think.

For 5 days commit to pausing at least three times in your day. And then consciously tune into something in your surroundings that is beautiful, calming or ‘good’. Stay with it for long enough to sense how you respond on the inside.

Somatic therapy and nervous system work can make an immense difference to your day to day experience of life.

I’m now offering somatic therapy sessions. But what IS it? And who is it good for?

Well honestly it’s good for just about anyone. But specifically if you’re grappling with any of the following then it could be really helpful.

• Overwhelm
• Vague fatigue
• Mystery chronic pain that comes and goes
• You feel stuck and indecisive

• A sense of ‘stuckness’

During sessions we work with your BODY and your nervous system to help you move through nervous system responses that have got stuck on repeat. (And are contributing to how you’re feeling.)

We don’t talk about it for hours. (We actually don’t really need to talk much at ALL.)

Instead we uncover concrete, grounded practices that help you to work WITH the power of your nervous system in order to meet life with greater flexibility, resilience, confidence and ease.

This work was a GAME CHANGER in my life when I started practicing it. It’s an honour to now be offering somatic sessions with others.

Celebrate the small steps my friends… They’re often the most important.
Celebrate the inner evolution - that maybe only you can see.
Move in alignment with that which is true to you, and honour your own pace and timing in the process.
THIS is how sustainable change arises.

I’m celebrating every single one of you that slowed enough in 2025 to FEEL what was true - rather than just acting on impulse.
I’m celebrating every single one of you that paused to grieve, or laugh, or rest.
I’m celebrating every single one of you who opted for the attainable ‘stretch’ goal, rather than the biggest possible achievement.

… Whether the changes were internal or external, or both… Let them land… And then keep building on that foundation.

Courage isn’t always the BIGGEST step - it’s honouring the step that is right and doable for you NOW. (As long as you’re still moving!)

And kindness, is the thing that enables us to keep going after we’ve dropped the ball for a moment or two.

More of this in 2026… Keep facing your true north and keep taking those tiny steps, with a whole lotta love.

There’s nothing quite like having your body stretched FOR you.

The feeling of someone simultaneously grounding and stabilising your body, whilst also gently stretching it.

This is the exact dance we do in traditional Thai massage. I ground your body with steadying weight and pressure while also mobilising it.

I’m listening for that sweet spot, where your body feels supported enough to actually let go and ALLOW movement… And I help you to become aware of the patterns and ways in which you might be limiting it.

Then we add in a sprinkling of massage and acupressure … and you walk out feeling pretty darn zen!
