June 20th on World Refugee Day, we stand in solidarity with refugees and displaced communities across the world πŸ’š

This year’s theme, 'Solidarity with Refugees,' reminds us that behind every statistic is a person, a family, a story, and a life disrupted by conflict, violence, persecution, or disaster.

At Mind-Ed, we recognise the importance of community, belonging, safety, and connection in supporting mental health and wellbeing. Seeking refuge takes immense courage, and creating communities where people feel welcomed, heard, and supported matters deeply.

Solidarity means more than awareness. It means listening to refugee voices, creating inclusive spaces, challenging stigma and discrimination, and advocating for systems that allow people to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Stronger communities are built when people feel safe, connected, and able to belong.

Today, we honour the resilience, strength, and humanity of refugees around the world and acknowledge the individuals, organisations, and humanitarian workers continuing to support displaced communities under incredibly difficult circumstances.

Because everyone deserves safety, connection, and the opportunity to thrive.

Sometimes people don’t need all the answers. They just need someone who knows how to listen.

At Mind-Ed, we run our Accidental Counsellor training multiple times throughout the year to help build confidence, connection, and practical communication skills within our community πŸ’š

This training is designed for everyday people navigating everyday conversations. It’s ideal for:
β€’ Community members
β€’ Volunteers
β€’ Workplaces and staff teams
β€’ Customer-facing and people-facing roles
β€’ Hospitality, retail, education, health and support services
β€’ Sporting clubs and community groups
β€’ Anyone wanting to feel more confident supporting others through difficult conversations

The workshop focuses on how to:
βœ” Recognise when someone may be struggling
βœ” Respond with empathy and confidence
βœ” Have supportive conversations safely
βœ” Connect people to appropriate support services
βœ” Build stronger, more compassionate communities

We believe mental health support starts long before crisis point. Sometimes the first step is simply knowing how to show up for someone.

Our next Accidental Counsellor training will be held:

πŸ“ Shire of Augusta Margaret River

As Men’s Health Week comes to a close, we want to acknowledge the local men in our community who continue to show up quietly, consistently, and compassionately for others πŸ’š

From the men on our board, volunteers, facilitators, fathers, tradies, coaches, service workers, first responders, mates, and community members creating safer conversations around mental health, thank you.

At Mind-Ed, we see firsthand the impact that connection, advocacy, and community-led initiatives can have. Whether it’s attending workshops, volunteering time, checking in on a friend, supporting local events, or helping reduce stigma through honest conversations, these actions matter.

Mental health support doesn’t always begin in a clinic. Sometimes it starts with a walk, a coffee, a community event, or a shared story.

This Men’s Health Week, we recognise the importance of prevention, connection, and making support easier to access for everyone in our region.

Thank you to all the local organisations, volunteers, and community members contributing to stronger mental health outcomes across Augusta Margaret River and beyond.

Because no one should have to navigate mental health alone.

In May, and as part of IDAHOBIT Day, we came together with Living Proud for an important Su***de Prevention Training focused on supporting the LGBTIQA+ community πŸ’š

IDAHOBIT, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia is an opportunity to stand together for inclusion, safety, visibility, and connection within our communities.

The training created space for honest conversations around mental health, su***de prevention, inclusive language, and the unique experiences and challenges faced by LGBTIQA+ individuals. It was a valuable opportunity to learn, reflect, and strengthen our capacity as a community to support one another.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so openly, and a special thank you to Living Proud for facilitating such a meaningful session.

At Mind-Ed, we believe prevention starts with connection, education, compassion, and community.

Thank a First Responder Day | Wednesday 10 June 2026 πŸ’š

Today we acknowledge and thank the first responders who continue to show up for our communities during moments of crisis, uncertainty, trauma, and emergency.

From paramedics, police, firefighters, SES volunteers, emergency department staff, and frontline workers, to the families who stand beside them, Thank a First Responder Day is an opportunity to recognise the dedication, compassion, and resilience it takes to do this work.

Behind every emergency response is a human being carrying the weight of difficult experiences, long hours, and ongoing pressure. Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of first responders and their families is essential, not only for those in these roles, but for the strength and wellbeing of our wider communities.

At Mind-Ed, we recognise the importance of connection, prevention, education, and accessible support for those working on the front line and those who care for them.

Today, we encourage our community to take a moment to say thank you to the people who continue to step forward when others need help most.

Thank a First Responder Day is an initiative of Fortem Australia supporting the mental health and wellbeing of first responders and their families across Australia.

Our sold-out Accidental Counsellor training back in May brought together local community members, workers, volunteers and organisations for a practical, compassionate workshop focused on how to support people through difficult conversations.

Hosted at the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, the training explored how to recognise when someone may be struggling, how to respond safely and confidently, and how connection and early support can make a real difference in our community.

At Mind-Ed, we believe prevention, education and local connection are powerful tools for building a more resilient region. Workshops like this are part of our ongoing commitment to making mental health conversations more approachable, accessible and community-led.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, shared their experiences, and continues to show up for others in our community.

Because sometimes the most important thing we can do is listen πŸ’š

World Environment Day | 5 June 2026 🌏

The planet sends signals every day. Rising temperatures. Changing seasons. Extreme weather. Loss of biodiversity.

But alongside these challenges, there are also signs of hope, action, and collective change happening across communities around the world.

This year’s World Environment Day theme focuses on climate action and the urgent need for all of us to respond to the signals our planet is sending. The 2026 global campaign encourages individuals, organisations, and communities to step in and help shape a healthier future for generations to come.

At Mind-Ed, we recognise the strong connection between healthy environments, connected communities, and mental wellbeing. Access to nature, community spaces, belonging, and collective care all play an important role in supporting wellbeing and resilience.

Living in a region surrounded by coastline, forest, and natural beauty, we’re reminded of the importance of caring for both people and place. Small actions, local connection, and community-led change all matter.

This World Environment Day, we encourage our community to pause, reflect, connect with nature where possible, and consider the role we can each play in creating a healthier and more sustainable future together. 🌿
