A little trip down memory lane today… 💗

A video memory popped up in my photos from 2020 — a Peter Hess® training weekend at The Meeting House in Osmington.

So many happy memories live in this place. ❤️

There was something incredibly peaceful about gathering there with our growing sound family — surrounded by the beauty and stillness of Osmington, while sharing knowledge, experience and a deepening understanding of the Peter Hess® Method.

Those weekends were so much more than training.

They were about listening deeply.
Learning through informed practice.
Sharing experiences.
Asking questions.
Receiving sound.
And walking alongside others who felt the same pull towards this work.

There were beautiful friendships formed along the way too — connections that have continued as we’ve each followed our own path with sound.

Looking at this little piece of 2020 today, I’m reminded just how much can grow from one decision to learn something deeply.

Six years of dedication to sound.
Six years of continuing to learn, practise and refine.
Six years of following a path that continues to unfold.

And I’m still just as grateful that I chose to walk it. 🕉️🌿

Some memories aren’t simply memories.

They are reminders of where the path began. 🤍💗🕉️

Yesterday, the gongs held the magic. 🕉️

As the deep gong vibrations moved through our Sunday Sound Meditation, something beautiful happened…

Time slipped away.

The room became still.
The gongs continued to move and resonate.
Bodies softened.
Minds became quieter.

As everyone dropped into that beautiful, deeply immersive gong trance meditation — a state where awareness turns inward and the usual sense of time can seem to disappear.

This is one of the things I love most about working with the gongs.

Their rich layers of sound and vibration don’t give the mind a predictable pattern to follow. Instead, the constantly shifting tones and overtones draws attention away from everyday thoughts and into a deeply relaxed, meditative state.

There is nothing to achieve.

Just a warm, grounded space, your body supported beneath you, and the opportunity to surrender into the sound.

Yesterday felt particularly magical. 🪄

Deep gong vibration.
Deep rest.
Deep meditation.
And somewhere along the way… time simply disappeared. 🕉️💗

Why do I shrink when someone calls me a “sound healer”?

I had one of those moments today.

I was meeting new people, they asked what work I do. I told them I am a Sound Therapist, trained in the Peter Hess® Method.

Their response was:

“Oh… you’re a sound healer.”

And internally? I cringed 😬

No. That’s not what I said.

Then I caught myself wondering…

Why does that word make me shrink?

It isn’t because I don’t believe in the profound experience sound can create. Quite the opposite.

It is because I have spent years learning, practising, refining and developing my work — and sound healer feels like it puts something very specific and professionally grounded into a much broader, less defined category.

I am a qualified sound therapist.

My training is in the Peter Hess® Method of Therapeutic Sound Massage — a structured approach developed over decades, taught internationally through the Peter Hess Academy network.

I have spent six years working with sound in my private clinic, continually learning, observing, refining and developing my understanding of how people respond to therapeutic sound.

This isn’t about claiming that one title is better than another.

There are many beautiful practitioners using sound in different ways, and I have enormous respect for the wider sound and wellbeing community.

But there is a difference between using sound as a spiritual or healing practice and being trained in a specific therapeutic methodology.

And perhaps that’s why I felt that little internal cringe today.

Because somewhere along the way, I have allowed a broad label to make me question a professional identity I have worked hard to build.

I am a Sound Therapist.

I work with therapeutic sound.

I use the Peter Hess® Method.

And I am deeply passionate about the work I do.

Perhaps the lesson isn’t that I dislike the words sound healer.

Perhaps it’s that I’m learning to stand more confidently in the words that actually feel true to me.

The softer feel in the studio this week. 💗

I’ve noticed a subtle shift in the energy of the sessions I’m sharing this week.

More clients are asking to include Reiki within their treatments.

And I think I understand why.

There is something beautifully gentle about Reiki.

There is no forcing.
No pushing.
Nothing you need to achieve.

It is an invitation to soften.

To receive.

To allow yourself to be supported rather than constantly asking yourself to hold everything together.

For me, the real magic happens when Reiki and sound come together.

The depth of a relaxation sound massage creates space for the body to soften, while Reiki brings another layer of stillness and gentle energetic support.

And the words I’ve been hearing from clients this week have made me smile:

“Floaty.”
“Blissed out.”
“Like butter.” 🧈

And honestly… I love this… yes butter.

Because when I’m working with the energetic field after sound, sometimes the flow feels exactly like that — softened, smooth and effortless, with none of the resistance that was there when we began.

Perhaps this is what many of us are needing right now.

Not another thing to push through.

Not another thing to fix.

Just a little more gentleness.

A little more permission to surrender.

A little more space to come home to ourselves.

Relaxation Sound Massage + Reiki

A deeply nurturing combination for those moments when you don’t need to try harder…

You simply need to soften. 💗

Finding stillness 🕉️
Sometimes you need to come back to yourself.

To slow the pace.
To feel your feet on the ground.
To breathe a little deeper.
To listen to what your body has been quietly asking for.

Rest isn’t something we need to earn once everything else is done.

It is part of caring for ourselves.

There is something powerful about creating space to be still — to reconnect with yourself, soften the edges of a busy week, and remember how it feels to simply be present.

Perhaps today, choose one small thing that brings you back to yourself.

A walk outside.
A quiet cup of tea.
Ten minutes without your phone.
An early night.
Or an hour in the studio, allowing therapeutic sound, energy work and deep relaxation to do what they do best.

Come home to yourself. 🕉️

What a beautiful space to be. 🕉️

There are places that simply feel good to walk into.

Our studio is one of those places for me.

A little sanctuary tucked away in Margaret River — warm, peaceful and ready to welcome you out of the busy world for a while.

Whether you’re craving deep relaxation, therapeutic sound massage, energy work, Reiki, or simply some uninterrupted time to yourself, consider this your invitation to pause. 💫

Let the door close behind you.

Let the outside world soften for a while.

And give yourself permission to simply be.

Sometimes relaxation changes what we see in the mirror. 🕉️

A beautiful moment happened in the studio today.

My client arrived carrying a lot of visible tension. His face looked tight, tired and held — the kind of expression that can happen when we’ve been carrying stress for too long.

We spent the session in Therapeutic Sound Massage and energy work, allowing his body to settle, soften and deeply rest.

By the time he left, he looked completely different.

His face had softened dramatically. His expression was peaceful, his whole presence lighter — as though years of tension had simply melted away.

The most beautiful part?

When his wife saw him afterwards, she looked at him and said:

“I can’t believe it… have you seen his face? It’s changed.”

She wasn’t talking about a cosmetic treatment.

She was seeing the difference that deep relaxation can create in someone’s expression and presence.

When the muscles of the face let go, the jaw softens, the brow releases and the eyes become calmer. We can look noticeably different when we’re no longer holding ourselves in tension.

He arrived a tense and under pressure age 60.

He joked that he left looking 40. 😊

And perhaps that’s one of the most beautiful things about creating space for deep relaxation.
You simply get to return to yourself.

✨ Therapeutic Sound Massage + Energy Work
A space to soften. Release. Rest. Reconnect.

If you have been carrying tension lately, perhaps your body is ready for some time out too.

“I am looking to schedule remedial massage…”
This is something I hear more often than you might think. When i answer phone calls. I find this interesting as this is not something I offer or have listed as an option on my website. Yet still people are guided to call Uniquely Balanced after looking at our website. And reading reviews 💫

People call me because they’re experiencing tightness, restricted movement, tension or pain — and their first thought is remedial massage.
It makes sense. It’s what they know.

But what if the reason your body keeps feeling restricted isn’t simply that you need someone to massage the tight spot harder?

This week I worked with a client who had already been seeing multiple practitioners, including receiving chiropractic, spinal and physiotherapy treatments.

Yet they were still experiencing inflammation, restriction and discomfort.

We tried something different. A gentle approach. Inviting body to soften not manipulating or forcing.

A Fascia Focused Sound Massage using therapeutic sound bowls.

During the session, we worked with vibration, sound and gentle therapeutic work to support the body in releasing areas of restriction.

The result?

✨ Noticeable softening
✨ Greater mobility
✨ A feeling of release
✨ And most importantly — they left feeling comfortable and pain-free.

It isn’t only a relaxing massage experience.

It is therapeutic bodywork using sound, vibration and touch in a completely different way.

If you’ve been having manipulating deep treatments and treating the same areas — but your body keeps returning to that same feeling of tightness and restriction — perhaps it’s time to try a different approach.

You might be surprised by what your body can release when you stop trying to force it.
