Now & Next Program

Now & Next Program Now & Next is an innovative, award-winning program for parents, family members, and carers of children with concerns about their child’s development.

N&N helps you develop skills to achieve positive outcomes for your child, your family & yourself Life can be overwhelming for parents or carers if their children don’t develop or behave in the same way as other children. Parents often wonder if there is something more they could be doing to help. Now & Next™ is an 8-session interactive program that can help you to make a positive difference for yo

ur child. We know that parents and carers make the biggest difference in their child’s life. Not by doing more, but by achieving more with less effort. Your valuable time will be well spent because we measure the outcomes and it works.

-94% of parents said: ‘Our child is learning new skills’
-95% of parents said: ‘Our child has positive family relationships’
-91% of parents said: ‘Our child is making choices and communicating’
(*Parents who have completed the Now and Next program reported on the achievements of their child outcomes at the end of the program.) Join the program and you will:
• Learn how to achieve more with less effort
• Use your strengths to make small changes that create a big impact for your child
• Learn how to increase the well-being and resilience of your entire family
• Learn strategies that have worked for other families
• Use our practical toolkit to get the best for your child when funding is limited

One of the tools we share with families in Now & Next is the Pictability kit, an evidence-based resource for planning and goal setting. We’ve designed the activity like a game, making it intuitive and engaging to use.

The kit is valued at over $100; it’s yours to keep and continue using as your child grows and goals change over time. Families come up with all kinds of goals using Pictability, big and small. We hope it becomes a helpful, practical tool you can return to again and again 🙌🏼

There's a lot you can do to encourage your child's development while waiting for NDIS funding or other supports to come through 🌱

Children learn best with the people they know in the places they spend the most time: at home or in the community. This video shares some simple ways to support your child’s learning through everyday interactions. It's these moments that can help build your child’s skills and confidence 🙌

By providing opportunities, children can experience the world, learn new skills and achieve meaningful milestones. Thank you to everyone who joined our May Now & Next groups. We hope you're discovering something new about your family's strengths ❤️

We advocate for our children at school or in the community, but how do we encourage them to understand and communicate their own needs?

Reframing Autism founder Dr Melanie Heyworth has some advice on self-advocacy from the Now & Next Alumni Conference.

Giving children choices is something we discuss in our Now & Next and Now & Next School programs. When we listen to their opinions and ensure that their rights are upheld, children feel safe and supported ❤️

An inspirational and loving message from a Now & Next parent to her daughter. Our graduates have gone on to become peer workers and advocates for their child and family. They have also established organisations or worked in government to champion people with disability. We are all passionate about creating a better future in our own way ❤️

Our May groups have started and we hope you get inspired, too!

Building strong partnerships with people involved in your child's learning is something we work on at Now & Next, including relationships with educators at school. Hearing about positive changes from families is always a pleasure 🎉

Parents at Now & Next often ask about ways to encourage positive behaviour in children. When children are still learning to express their needs, behaviour can be a way they communicate with the people around them.

So how can we nurture positive behaviour? In this video, an early childhood special educator at Plumtree shares some practical ideas.

Thanks for your interest in our Now & Next May groups and for being a part of our community ❤️
