๐Ÿ’œ Comfortable speaking up or saying no
๐Ÿ’œ Involved in decisions about your supports

If something does not feel right, you have the right to raise your concerns and ask for help without fear of being treated differently.

At Jema Support Services, your safety, wellbeing and choices matter. We are committed to providing respectful, person-centred support where every participant feels heard, valued and secure.

๐Ÿงฉ Understanding Autism

Autism is a different way of thinking, communicating and experiencing the world. Every autistic person is unique, with their own strengths, interests, communication style and support needs.

We can create more inclusive communities by:

๐Ÿ’œ Listening without judgement
๐Ÿ’œ Respecting different communication styles
๐Ÿ’œ Being mindful of sensory needs
๐Ÿ’œ Providing clear information and extra processing time
๐Ÿ’œ Asking each person how they prefer to be supported
๐Ÿ’œ Celebrating strengths rather than focusing only on challenges

Understanding begins when we listen, learn and recognise the personโ€”not just their diagnosis.

At Jema Support Services, we provide person-centred support that respects individuality, promotes choice and helps each participant feel understood and included.

๐ŸŽง Sensory Overload โ€“ What It Can Look Like

Sensory overload happens when the brain receives more sensory information than it can comfortably process.

It may look like:

๐Ÿ”น Covering the ears or eyes
๐Ÿ”น Becoming quiet or withdrawn
๐Ÿ”น Irritability, distress or frustration
๐Ÿ”น Difficulty communicating
๐Ÿ”น Needing to leave or find a calm space

Everyone experiences sensory overload differently. What may seem like โ€œdifficult behaviourโ€ could be someone communicating that their environment has become overwhelming.

๐Ÿ’œ Be patient. Reduce noise, lights or other stimulation where possible. Offer a calm space and ask the person what would helpโ€”without pressure or judgement.

At Jema Support Services, we provide compassionate, person-centred support that respects each personโ€™s individual needs.

๐Ÿ“„ Ask to see your support records
๐Ÿšช Have your privacy respected in your home and community

If you are unsure, you can ask:

โ€œWhy do you need this information, and who will it be shared with?โ€

Privacy is not a favour. It is your right.

At Jema Support Services, we believe your information should be handled with dignity, care and respect.
