What if stepping into cold water could be a powerful practice for resilience, recovery and nervous system regulation?

An ice bath is more than a physical challenge. Cold exposure creates a short, controlled stress response — asking your body to adapt, regulate breathing, manage discomfort and return to balance.

In a large survey of women who regularly cold-water swam, participants reported improvements in menstrual symptoms including anxiety, mood swings and irritability. Women experiencing perimenopause also reported improvements in anxiety, low mood, mood swings and hot flushes.

Could cold exposure be another tool for resilience, regulation and wellbeing you ask!?!

Yes!

Cold water creates a short, controlled stress stimulus. Your body responds by activating systems involved in stress regulation, circulation and thermoregulation.

And for women, there is an interesting connection between temperature and hormones.

✨ Oestrogen & progesterone influence thermoregulation

These hormones affect how the body regulates temperature, including responses to heat and cold. Their levels fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle and change significantly during perimenopause and menopause.

✨ Menstrual & perimenopausal wellbeing
In a survey of 1,114 women who regularly cold-water swam, many reported improvements in menstrual and perimenopausal symptoms.
Reported improvements included a reduction of anxiety, mood swings, irritability, low mood and hot flushes.

✨ Nervous system resilience
Cold exposure provides a strong physiological stimulus. Learning to meet that stimulus with calm, controlled breathing can become a practice in staying present and regulating your response to stress in any situation and every day life.

I have always felt a powerful pull towards Bali.

From the very first moment I stepped onto this sacred land, I felt something I couldn’t quite explain — a deep sense of coming home.

Since that first visit, I have returned more times than I can count. And every time I come back, my connection deepens.

Over the years, I’ve discovered that the true gift of Bali isn’t simply its breathtaking beauty. It’s something you feel.

It’s in the energy of the land.
The spirit of the people.
The ancient traditions.
The sacred ceremonies.
The temples, offerings and rituals woven into everyday life.
The feeling that something here invites you to slow down, listen and remember.

For years, I have dreamed of creating and holding a retreat here — bringing people I know will feel the magic of this land into an experience that is so much more than a simple retreat.

And now, that dream is finally becoming reality.
