We feel so privileged that you, our amazing community of supporters, have been helping us keep the doors open to care for people in need since 1954.
Over 70 years on, and we still regularly witness acts of generosity that warm our hearts - like this one by Hutt St Hero Zameer.
Zameer noticed people sleeping rough in the early morning on his way to the gym. After seeing an ad for sleeping bags on sale, he called Hutt St Centre to ask if people experiencing homelessness might need them.
Arriving with more than 50 sleeping bags, we're blown away by Zameer's kindness and compassion for people doing it tough.
“We all go through ups and downs in life, but no one should have to face homelessness alone. I think it’s incredibly important to extend a helping hand whenever we are in a position to do so, and I’m just glad I could play a small part in supporting the vital work Hutt St Centre does.”
