Another melanoma. I was worried this was going to be invasive but thankfully it was still only in-situ, meaning it was still limited to the skins surface. I did call the pathologist to double check this one as it was slightly raised but he confirmed no dermal invasion was present. Excised in rooms.

Porokeratosis is thought to be caused by a genetic mutation resulting in an increased proliferation of keratinocytes (surface skin cells). It is associated with UV exposure, friction and immune system changes. While benign there is an increased risk of non-melanoma skin cancers forming within the lesion.
