Jimboomba Garage 👇🏼

Today the crew got hands-on with one of the most important engine diagnostic tests in the automotive industry – a compression test on our Mazda 121, affectionately known as Kermit! 🐸🚗

A compression test helps determine the overall health of an engine by measuring the pressure produced in each cylinder. It’s a vital skill for diagnosing engine performance issues and understanding how an engine operates.

Our team had the opportunity to:
✅ Use professional diagnostic equipment
✅ Learn how to perform a compression test safely
✅ Interpret test results and identify potential engine concerns
✅ Build practical automotive knowledge and confidence

At Wheelnutz Garage, every task is an opportunity to develop real-world skills, gain industry experience, and prepare for future employment in the automotive sector.

🔧 Another great outcome at the Brendale Garage.

Our team tackled a coolant and heater hose replacement, building valuable hands-on mechanical skills along the way. During the job, they also uncovered an issue with the HVAC fan and found a build-up of palm nuts restricting airflow.

After a thorough clean-out and some problem-solving, the heater is now blowing warm air again and the vehicle is back on track.

At Wheelnutz Garage, every repair is more than just fixing a vehicle, it’s an opportunity for our crew to develop confidence, skills, and real-world automotive experience.

🏁 Race Car, Real Skills, Real Opportunities 🏁

The crew at our Queensland Raceway garage have spent the last two weeks diving headfirst into the world of motorsport, working on a genuine Excel Cup race car and learning what it takes to compete at a high level.

From researching the technical regulations and compliance requirements of the series, to getting hands-on in the workshop, the team have embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and determination. This has been far more than just working on a car, it’s been an opportunity to build practical skills, confidence, teamwork and industry knowledge in a real-world environment.

Experiences like this demonstrate what’s possible when people are given the opportunity to learn by doing. Watching the crew problem-solve, ask questions, and take pride in their work has been fantastic.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this opportunity and helped make it possible. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes the team next! 🔧🏎️💨

At Wheelnutz Garage, people with disabilities are part of the crew.

Through our partnerships with racing teams and a karting team, participants are learning pit crew skills, working alongside drivers and mechanics, building confidence, making connections and becoming valued members of the motorsport community.

Anyone can offer a thrill ride.

We’re creating real opportunities, real skills and real belonging.
