Supporting the next generation of First Nations Doctors.

PMCV is working with First Nations and non-Indigenous stakeholders to co-design the Victorian Prevocational Medical First Nations Pathway Pilot.

The Pathway aims to provide culturally safe support for First Nations medical graduates transitioning into prevocational training through structured mentoring, community connection, and health service accountability.

PMCV is proud to be sharing this work at the upcoming 2026 Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association (AIDA) conference.

PMCV is aware of industrial action that may involve prevocational doctors and/or their supervisors across Victorian health services.

The PMCV Accreditation Committee has considered the implications of the industrial action in relation to the AMC National Framework for Prevocational (PGY1 and PGY2) Medical Training requirements.

In the spotlight today is Jerry Tumney! 🌟 We want to acknowledge her long-standing contribution in supporting, mentoring and championing generations of doctors throughout their early careers.

Jerry was a pioneer in the field, stepping into the Medical Education Officer (MEO) role at Goulburn Valley Health twenty years ago. Since then, she has played an instrumental role in overseeing accreditation, coordinating education, promoting wellbeing, and helping to create a supportive learning environment for junior doctors. Her commitment always extended beyond the role which included volunteering as a PMCV surveyor to strengthen medical training across Victoria.

Thank you for your exceptional contribution in the medical training space, we wish you all the best as your move into your next role as Victorian Rural Generalist Program's Hume Project Officer. Your dedication has made a meaningful difference to countless doctors and the communities! 💐

When junior doctors are involved in conversations about medical education, they bring valuable lived experiences and perspectives.

Harshika, one of our JMO Victoria Victoria Co-Chairs, had the opportunity to be a panel member in an Osler CPD Home webinar. She contributed from the perspective of a junior doctor, sharing her insights on a case regarding patient care responsibility and communication between junior and senior doctors.

Opportunities like this highlight the important role that JMOs play in shaping conversations around prevocational medical education. PMCV and JMO Victoria are always proud to support and amplify those voices! 🩺
